E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!! Official Eagles - Falcons game thread

you're over thinking this.

all season, I had game threads for Eagles games with the same Subject line. To have a different one in the playoff game would have been bad voodoo. Think of Silver Linings Playbook. ;)
Nah not really. My thread was a statement, which was true. You should have started your own thread. Lol

Great D by Eagles. Especially the tackle of Julio Jones in the end zone and allowing him to get up in time to have a chance to catch last pass attempt.

No thanks. I’ll stay up awhile and check out all the whiners if NE gets anymore close calls.

I give it to the Eagles, I didn't think they would be able to put up enough points to win. I severely overestimated the Falcons here...they stink out loud. Matt Ryan has definitely cemented his legacy as a chocker.

I like how people were all over the falcons last week when they put up so many points on a really good defense, now this week when they don't put up points the falcons are terrible. No credit to the eagles defense?

Thanks for your input, supercrap.

My thoughts going into the game were that the Eagles were going to need a strong effort by their D to win the game.

In the 2nd half:

- they shutout the Falcons
- they did not allow the Falcons to score at the end of the game, when the Falcons had 1st and goal inside the 10, and 4 shots to score a TD
And the Falcons lone TD was a gifted muffed punt at like the Eagles 18 yard line! Had that not happened, the score would have looked far worse.

Despite virtually no one in the Foles corner, thought he had a very respectable game.

I’ve never seen a color commentator throw anyone under the bus as quickly as Collinsworth did after the first two passes by Foles. To his credit, Foles played better than the vast majority of Eagle fans thought he could.....most were already blaming him for the probable loss even before the game began.

Congrats E A G L E S !

The Eagles defense 100% won the game.

Drive right before half was difference. Easy int deflected and Smith with the catch and run. And not sure how Falcons left Jeffery open on sideline. Elliott makes another big FG (hopefully he figures out the PAT's soon).

Falcon's play calling questionable. Not sure why they didn't throw slant at the goal line on first down. And why is 3rd RB in the game for that shovel pass? Hardly played and they have Freeman and Coleman.

Goll-yyyy I can’t stand collinsworth. But I do have to give him credit. Yeah he threw foles under the bus quick but he was also quick to point out that he was settling in and getting hot.

I’ve been saying since Wentz went down, this team has completely changed. They’re no longer gonna put up 35+ points a game. They’re going to go with the 2000 ravens model: REALLY good D, good running game, game managing QB

You are correct, Collinsworth gave credit where credit was due to Foles as the game went along. And when Ryan threw a similar long woefully underthrown pass later in the game, Collinsworth went after that pass too.

I thought one of the big plays of the game was Foles spotting the loose ball on the ground down near the goal line and diving / recovering that ball.....which could easily have ended up anywhere without him fielding it cleanly, including at the other end of the field as an Atlanta TD.

I was entirely mistaken about Foles... after 3 pretty lousy games, he comes out of nowhere and has a very respectable, solid game. Didn't just prevent us from losing, he helped us win. Very happy to have been wrong and i'm hopeful another week of reps will make him even better. He's not Wentz but he sure earned his pay yesterday and I'm happy to have him as our QB.

Lifelong Eagles fan. The inevitable happened when Wentz went down. It was great to barely win the playoff game but it could have gone either way. Kind of like the Buddy Ryan teams of the early 90s, all defense, barely any offense helped them win a lot of games. Better owner this go around. Defense looks great and will keep them in the game. They say Defense wins championships. However, the Saints & Vikings are much better offensively then the Falcons. Not sure if the offense will be able to put up enough points going forward.Still not getting my hopes up so they aren't brought crashing down yet again like in the Andy Reid years. (However, I still think the Patriots cheated in the 2004 Superbowl. :) )

Great summary...this team reminds me of the Jim McMahon led team (Kotite’s 1st year 1991 - Cunningham injured 1st game of season against Packers) or the Jeff Garcia led team that went to playoffs (2006 - McNabb went down) kind of feel. Great defense and “safe” offense.

Foles is now the real wildcard. He played better and better as that game wore on. The Eagles also has some miscues on offense that may have taken points off the board.

If Foles plays like he did in the second half yesterday, then I think the Eagles can beat anyone.

You can’t overstate the Vikes having to play outside on the road and in the cold. Sure, they beat a Packers team without a pulse in the cold, but the Eagles are a different animal.
