EAGLES-GIANTS

I can't believe these refs. It is really the worst game I have ever seen officiated.
And again, I don't care one way or another. I am watching for Saquon.

Roseman deserves some heat too, as his personnel moves didn’t work out (not resigning Robinson, trading Torrey Smith for Wallace, etc).

Robinson not being with the team hurts, especially with all the injuries the Birds have suffered at CB this season. Reportedly, Howie offered Robinson more $$ than did the Saints, but the Saints offered more guaranteed $$, and that was the difference. Robinson got something like $10 mill guaranteed, with a lot of it upfront/1st year. The Birds were up near the cap limits, so they didn't have the option of front loading the contract. (Basically, the Birds had to choose between Robinson and Bradham. At the time, I thought they made the better decision in signing Bradham.) I'd also add that I think Robinson made the correct choice. The Birds signed him in 2017 for a 1-year veteran minimum. He's 31, and has a history of injuries. The Birds elected to go younger. Minus the injuries, it made have been a win-win for Robinson and for the Birds.

As for Torrey Smith, I'll give Howie a pass on that. Smith was overpaid, and while he was a speed threat, he consistently dropped balls that should have been caught all last season. Wallace had no injury problems in the past in the NFL. He suffered a broken fibula in the 2nd game of this season, which is not something anyone could have anticipated. Last I read, there was speculation that he could return in December. I'm not sure who would have to be cut/which starter or backup wouldn't play at WR if they wanted to make room for Wallace. The Birds have lacked a deep threat this season, but that hardly seems to be their biggest problem on offense.

I’m also of the belief that you can’t blame anyone in the front office for injuries.

The Giants have decided they don’t need Barkley this half...and they’ve done exactly nothing this half.

Heckuva drive by the Giants there - 3 plays for -10 yards in 6 seconds. That's helping out your defense.

Birds take the lead for the 1st time in the game, on a rushing TD by Josh Adams. That makes it 20-19, Birds. They go for a 2-point conversion, and Adams runs that in, so it's 22-19, Birds.

If they can get the run game going, then the season gets a lot more interesting.

Not sure if he stills does college but he’s knowledgeable fair and unbiased. Even for a OSU alum.

He is a meathead who is nearly impossible to listen to for any length of time. He is near the Glen Mason level of boring.

Game tied 22-22, with Birds on the move. They take a TO with 25 sec. left to kick a 43-yard FG for the lead. And the kick is good!

Fly, Eagles, Fly

Birds coverage on KOs has not been good today, which is a concern. Squibb kick?

Birds with a normal KO, and GMen return it to their 34 yard line.

Barkley only touched the ball 4 times in the 2nd half -- what's with that? (not that I'm complaining)

Boy, this loss is on Manning and the coaching staff. “You wouldn't know that Barkley was on the team in the second half.”

I was rooting for Saquon but to my Eagle fan friends on the McAndrew Board, “Fly, Eagles, Fly!”

Baffling. I suspect the Eagles injury-riddled secondary lulled the Giants into trying to throw the ball downfield.

Unbelievable. Saquon gashed the Eagles for over 100 total yards in the first half (at one point he had more yards than the entire Eagles offense) and he only gets FOUR touches in the second half?

I find it odd even asking this, but is it possible that Pederson winds up on the hot seat heading into 2019? It’s obvious the defensive issues are injury related, but the offense and Wentz are major issues that sit with Doug.
I think there will be a hot seat for the coach, because this is a tough town and “what have you done for me lately” is the prevailing mood.

But, I think they have found a RB in Adams and a deep threat on the outside will make a big difference in offensive production next year.

If they get the running game going and find a vertical threat, then the offense will greatly improve. They’ll win some games too, which cures all.

And that's the ball-game, as Becham gets tackled during a razzle-dazzle, lateral play.

Fantastic couple minutes as I watched Carolina go down and then that great "sweep the leg" tackle. Good day so far, now hope the Steelers can get the win.

Talk about no coaching, how bout those giants
And one other thing, there was nothing in the way Eli played in the first half which would lead one to believe that he'd be the one to carry the Giants in the second half. Missed a wide-open player for a two-point conversion to end their first drive; he checked down to a pass where the guy wouldn't even have made the goal line if he'd caught the ball. Then two bad interceptions, one in the second half, just boneheaded play overall. He's bad these days.

Few things with this.

#1: I really don't get the "pederson on the hot seat" talk. dude won the SB with backups all over the place last year, then was decimated by injury on the defensive backfield plus his book end OTs have been banged up and he lost his starting RB for the year. i mean.... hot seat??? "what have you done for me lately"??? gave the team and city the ability to call them selves defending super bowl champions for 364 days.

#2: I like Adams, and I hope you're right. Kid runs a little upright for my taste, but he's a haus. That said, remember what people said last year about Clemente? I'll admit that I even jumped on that bandwagon. Thought he was the answer at RB for the foreseeable future. What a difference a year makes. I'll hold my reservation on Adams until next year.

and some serious lack of talent at CB for the Birds, due to all the injuries they've suffered at that position this season.

Nice to see Tim Jernigan finally off of IR and playing for the Birds at DT.

I haven't a clue why the Birds went with their black uniforms today. They've only worn them one game this season -- their debacle against Dallas. I'm not superstitious, and I'll always prefer the kelly green unis, but why wear something that brought you absolutely no luck in a prior game?

@sluggo72, it appears that Wiz did not start for the Birds. smh

Sorry I wasn't around to start my traditional Birds thread. A few tasks and errands needed to be completed by me to maintain domestic bliss. ;)
Thanks for the info Tom. I still think Wiz needs to be in there. I didn't see any of the game. I was stuck out on that line on the map between Ohio and Kentucky!!! Nice day!!!

Adam's height and upright running style were why JF recruited him for LB.

All valid but this is Philly we're talking about - normal rules don't apply. :D

They had Barkley and Robinson from McDevitt committed at RB and did not want to take a third RB in the class given the scholarship restrictions. They still wanted him, but he wanted a guarantee that he would be a RB and they could not give it.
