FC- Harbaugh is not happy with Purdue facilities.

Anyone who has ever been to a game in West Lafayette ---- their facilities are pitiful. It is very high-school like, as opposed to a D-1 institution that brings in A LOT of money.

The old south end zone bleachers for instance. I can't believe those things weren't condemned at a point. Finally replaced in 2015.

Expecting every B1G team to provide an air-conditioned locker room for their guests? That's not an unreasonable standard. It's freaking 2017, and Purdue is playing college football at its highest levels. They're not a JuCo in Mississippi.

Lack of creature comforts, I can understand. But lack of adequate bathroom facilities and tables for properly evaluating injuries? That's too much. If it's how he says it is, then I agree with him.

He has a beef with the hit on his QB. This board would be on fire if TM got KOd with a hit like that and no flag ensued.

Well ... Harbaugh is correct on this one.

Purdue has annual athletic revenue in the EIGHT figures. Given such, it's absurd they find a way to provide air-conditioning for their guests. Ditto for providing an adequate number of toilets, and medical facilities.

That's minor league, and Purdue (most specifically, former AD Morgan Burke and current AD Mike Bobinski) deserve ridicule for such.

I've been to four games in West Lafayette. I've been to games at all B1G stadiums outsides of Maryland & Rutgers. Purdue is --- by several orders of magnitude --- the most minor-league in terms of their facilities and such.

I highly doubt Purdue is the only school with no AC in visitor (or home for that matter) locker rooms in B10.
Doubt PSU or UM have AC, but will surely hear who does and doesn't in the coming days

Sounds like mission accomplished at Purdue.

I'm willing to bet $100 to $10 that you're wrong on that account (time-limit on accepting this bet is 4:15 PM ET before someone has time to go and fact check me).

It's 2017. HVAC should be standard. It's not 1967 when it was a luxury.

And considering how hot everybody knew it was going to be, renting a couple of portable air conditioning units and hooking them up would cost barely a thousand dollars.

BTW --- 26 days and we can meet in Boulder. Maybe you will finally get off your STUPID "michnittlion is not a Penn State fan" mindset.

I never said that you're not a Penn State fan to some degree. It's just that you're clearly more of a Michigan fan, but try to deny that here.

Yes, but UM probably should have thought of that and brought their own. It's not like they have never been to Ross Ade, and don't have the weather forecast. Their version of Spider should have been to the West Lafayette Sears or Home Depot Friday night

Harbaugh does seem to whine a lot on and off the field, but I can't find fault with his comments regarding PU's facilities. If the B1G wants to be known as an the elite conference, they need to have commensurate facilities. It should be interesting to see what the conference does in response.

Seems pretty easy to fix. Until Purdue addresses, every opponent, when Purdue visits should:
- Turn of AC and switch on the heat (or vice versa when it's cold.
- block off a certain number of toilets.
- Remove training tables to equal what purdue offers, etc.

I suspect it would be remedied rather quickly.

My all-time favorite High School football visitor's locker rooms.

#3: Williamsport: the half-time visitor's room was also the lawn maintenance shed. Nothing like large open bins of chemical and organic fertilizers to clear your sinuses.

#2: Berwick: Visitor's locker room only had three shower stalls, but one was always out of order. It also smelled of rotted flesh. I swear there was a maggot riddled cadaver stuffed in the ceiling.

#1: Mount Carmel: While the locker room was spacious, and had plenty of showers, the shower room was sunken with no hot water and drains that did not work. Nothing like playing both ways for four quarters in November only to have to take a cold shower while standing in 12" of cold dirty water.

Don't care for the blowhard but I agree that facilities should be clean, sanitary and ample to support the visiting team. There's no reason for any Big conference team to not have impeccable facilities and support for player injury.

He’s right. If there is not a minimum standard for visitor facilities in place, the league needs to review current policy and develop something reasonably accommodating with emphasis on player safety and comfort.

The tables toilets and cleanliness is one thing the AC ? doesnt seem a big deal I mean how many times is it in the 90's 23rd of Sept .? The field sure wasnt air conditioned.

Is Harbaugh the first visiting coach to use those facilities? Have any coaches from West Division voiced similar concerns since they have to visit every other year?

Can you imagine the outrage (cue Bob) if it were Franklin who publicly ridiculed a fellow conference school's facilities?

I guess when one is the Darling of the league, he can demand to be treated as such by the riffraff ... the Daddy Delaney will take the necessary steps to soothe him.

Not once have I heard another coach come out and complain publically.

Really? Bring your own A/C? Should they bring their own porta-potties too? It's not like they have other things to be concerned about...

I can't blame him. The facilities there seem antiquated and hopefully Purdue will update the locker room by next season.

Yeah, I've never been there so I have no idea what they are like. That said, it's something Harbaugh and his AD should have discussed privately in a phone call with the Purdue coach/ AD. I'm not a fan of Harbaugh trying to publicly humiliate Purdue.

Just imagine the outrage there would be right now from ESPN, Francesa, etc if it was James Franklin who attacked Purdue like this- complaining of no air conditioning and not enough urinals. ;)

Our visitor locker room looks shotty from the outside. I'm in agreement with JH, the medical and restrooms should at least be somewhat up to par.
Shotty is an understatement. It a tiny dump. Sometimes players will dress behind tarps it so tiny. It one of the reason why the NFL wouldn’t let the Bills move a game there when they had a blizzard.

those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.... Penn State's Jeffery Field has NO LOCKER ROOMS, NO bathroom facilities and NO running hot water. Both visiting and HOME teams use tents for locker rooms, and port-a johns for bathrooms. Try that on a 23 degree day in early December in an NCAA playoff game. I agree there should be adequate sanitary and safety acomodations at Purdue BUT also at all of Penn State's facilities as well. Some of Penn State's facilities are not even up to high school standards. Port-a- johns for restrooms? Jeffery field renovation can not come fast enough. The facilities for our recent NCAA women's soccer championship team sound somewhat similar to Purdue's football accomodations

Seriously?!? Unless Purdue changes the ac option to something that clearly clarifies what it entails, like the "scUM crybaby upgrade option", no school is going to know what it means.

I'm ignorant on this different topic, but what is the norm for NCAA soccer facilities?

Small but adequate heated building with locker facilities, suitable for halftime coaching, trainer table, flush toilets, showers, and heated running water. Not luxurious but not clean and well maintained.
Penn state's Jeffery Field has none of the above for teams and no restrooms for spectators or game day staff. Concession stand is a modified wooden storage shed.
