We want to get the best IM athletes in the country and you need first class facilities to do that. You don't get a 4 star like Jawan Jones from Philly to come and play IM basketball with what we have now.Originally posted by jp3272:
I never really understood the need to modernize / buildout the IM building. Is there a tangible benefit or am I just old?
They simply need to in order to compete with other schools for students. Penn State student recreation facilities pale in comparison to peer institutions and even to lesser institutions like IUP, Cal, Shippensburg ect. Phase 3 will not take up much room. That space wasn't even available this year.Originally posted by fairgambit:

According to a recent study, this is the projected Penn State green space for 2021.Originally posted by psu00:
Hey- the athletic department said moving handicapped parking last year (to the mall IIRC) was no big deal so Altoona is just a little further.
Looks like it's not too long until there's little to no green space left on campus at the building rate of the past few years.
I will respectfully disagree. To me, it's overbuilt and looks it, but I knew that was inevitable, especially after we joined the Big Ten. In 20 years, Penn State will have a more urban look than Pitt.Originally posted by Evan Ceg:
C'mon, fairgambit and psu00, the campus looks better today than at anytime in the past 50 years. You don't get to seal the campus in amber on the day that you graduate.
