Penn St at #8 in coaches poll. PSU #9 in AP poll (North Carolina jumped them). For some reason Notre Dame is #5 in both polls. Glov is not happy. ;)

Shocked UNC jumped us. First, they had to hold off BC late and we were ranked higher to start. Irrelevant today though.

Yeah, Boston College scored a late TD to make it 24-22 UNC. BC went for 2 to tie it up. It was intercepted and returned for 2 UNC points instead. Final was 26-22 UNC.

How that gave UNC a boost of 4 spots from last week putting them ahead of PSU is odd.

F UNC and ND
It's a complete dogshit conference. If that poll actually mattered it would be cause for concern since there are clearly a group of people that have a grudge against the b1g for whatever reason. Fortunately these polls don't mean anything at all, even less than they used to. There is literally no reason to have them other than to make people argue amongst themselves. And places like this board don't need anything more to help that.

I don't think that B10 nor P12 teams are getting voted in by every pollster. I know we are lower than preseason as well as OSU. No worries. We just need to take care of business. Handle what we control.

Miami is going to upset Clemson.

I don't think Miami has enough defense to beat Clemson. UVA might be the second best defense in that conference and they couldn't stifle them for long. Lawrence doesn't make mistakes, Etienne is now a dangerous receiving threat (UVA held him in check running the ball, 14 for 73 but he was the leading receiver with 5/114), and they seem to be fine at WR minus Ross and Higgins (Rogers and Ladson).

Perhaps they get into a shootout and can stay in it late, however, I can see Dabo getting them hyped and whipping the Canes back into mediocrity.

To beat Clemson you need to control the ball.

Perhaps. I think matching up with their WRs and getting pressure on Lawrence rank higher.

Their defense is young on the DL. Bresee and another true freshmen are starters. Bresee had a solid game, but they got lucky that UVA still doesn't have a good running game (QB was the leading rusher) and they didn't harass the QB as consistently as past Tiger DLs.

The game changer was the Clemson CB making a one handed INT in the end zone against the UVA freshmen WR. It just put the game out of reach.

I don’t know. I’m not sold on Miami yet. They were given a lot of credit for crushing Florida State but FSU is a complete dumpster fire.

It will be interesting to see how Miami does against Clemson. What would the committee do if Clemson wins in the regular season but Miami takes the rematch in the conference title game? Would the ACC get 2 spots in the playoff?

Is Mack Brown that good or is UNC way overrated? He was not that great at Texas except for having Vince Young singlehandedly win him a NC. Last I checked UNC was a basketball school that happened to play football. When do they play Clemson and Notre Lame?

Keep in mind 11 of 61 AP voters did not vote for any Big Ten or PAC-12 teams last week. I don’t know if that happened again in this latest poll from Sunday 10/4, but obviously that would impact PSU’s ranking. It also in part is why Ohio St is #6 despite starting the year #2.

On top of that, BC did an onside kick, and came out of the pile with the ball, but they gave it to UNC for some unknown reason... ending the game.

The pitters might not sniff the top 25 again for decades. They are learning that you can't win consistently with a team composed of 2* MAC level recruits.

Who cares. Our job is to beat Ohio State. 1982 called and said to go back to the present.

Pitt was only ranked in the Top 25 as a placeholder for another team once the rest of the conferences decided to restart football. Kind of like seat-fillers that work at the awards shows put out in Hollywood...a star gets up to go the the bathroom and a seat-filler steps in for moment or two.

UNC plays Notre Dame Friday 11/27. They do not have Clemson on the schedule.

They do play VT this weekend and Miami 12/5.

As most of you know, Glov certainly does, I’m no fan of the Tar Heels. But even I have to admit they have a pretty solid football team. Would have beaten Clemson last year if they had made their 2 point conversion.

Don’t play Clemson and have ND second to last game. UNC can beat Notre Dame.

Hokies this week. UVA on Halloween. We'll know more about them by then. Be tough for me to think they can beat ND unless they start dominating though.

If they play penalty riddled football as they did on Saturday then both Virginia games will be losses. The reason they can beat ND is that the Irish cannot score with the Heels. The OL is the big weakness - only 5 guys who can play so by the time they play ND they may not have a line anyway.
