I'd take him back, Howie always tries to rub Chippera nose in it.

The Eagles need a running back. The Eagles have cap room. They’ve been willing to bring back former players in the past.

If you’re looking to play connect-the-dots, this one makes a degree of sense.

According to Josh Reed of WIVB in Buffalo, the Eagles have called the Bills to see if running back LeSean McCoy was available.

McCoy spent his first six years with the Eagles, and would likely be willing if not eager to leave a rebuilding project for a more established team. And the Eagles could certainly use a back of his category, after losing Jay Ajayi to a torn ACL.

It’s unclear if the Bills would want to unload him, as that would be a de facto admission that this season is about getting in position for next season (and given their giant pile of dead money, it’s a reasonable position).

McCoy has two years left on his current deal, and the Eagles just restructured Fletcher Cox‘s contract to create more room.

I'd certainly welcome him back. As much as I love the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia, the media/fans overreact to everything. Le'veon Bell & David Johnson have also been mentioned as soon as the news broke.

People can dream but it just seems like it's always a little over the top to me.

EDIT: I blame the dopes on WIP and the Fantatic for the lack of things to talk about day in and day out.

A 30 year old running back is not what the Birds need. And a 30 y.o back with a history of being a less than upright citizen does not add to a team but takes away from it. We don't need a star running back, we need one who will fit in and do his share. Exactly who that is, I couldn't say.

I think Bell and Johnson are pipe dreams in season. Why would Arizona trade Johnson? They have a young QB and every incentive to build around him. A running game is a key success factor there.

Bell is just a matter of opportunity cost. The Steelers will get a 3rd rounder as compensation if Bell leaves as a free agent. Any trade has to be sweeter than that and the downside is that Bell walks at season's end. I'm not sure how you make that trade save for desperation and I don't think Philly is there after winning a Super Bowl.

I agree that Bell and Johnson are pipe dreams. The Birds just need a serviceable back or two...they don't need an All-Pro level back. But whoever they get has to be able to block, catch and get a couple yards whenever they need it.
