  • A 3-year probation, running from today through Nov. 30, 2020.
  • A self-imposed fine of $180,000.
  • Postseason bans for 2017 and 2018.
  • A suspension of two conference games for Hugh Freeze should he be hired as a head coach for the 2018 season
  • An 8-year show cause for Freeze’s operations coordinator
  • A 5-year show cause for one assistant coach
  • A 2-year show cause for another assistant coach
  • A 5-year show cause for the assistant athletics director
  • Vacating all wins involving ineligible players
  • A reduction of 11 scholarships through 2018-19
  • Self-imposed recruiting restrictions
  • Self-imposed dissociation from boosters

Rising seniors will now be permitted to transfer without penalty, but all other players would be subjected to the same transfer rules as everyone else.

Maybe UT could hire Freeze.....at least they would only not have a coach for 2 game next year.....the way its going Clay Travis may have to done the whistle and clipboard! This SEC stuff this year is priceless.

Any MLBs worth poaching?
I don't care if Dick Butkis and Ray Nitchski were at Ole' Miss, I don't like the idea of Penn State "poaching" anyone. Of course, a grad transfer from Ole' Miss or any other school would not be difficult for me to swallow. For whatever reason, however, CJF hasn't really done much of that. I would think a LB from a JUCO school would be a potential as well, but that hasn't happened much either. Whether grad transfer or a JUCO transfer, this would impact the incoming recruiting class and/or the existing scholarship players, so I'm not so sure that it would be in our best interest unless we were sure that the transfer was a can't miss contributor.

JUCO's are a waste of time, I dont care if JVP, BO'B or CJF is coaching, PSU should have no room for JUCO's. I said that when JVP was coaching as well.

When SMU imploded three assistant coaches were sent to Dallas to meet with players. From what I can recall only one - Matt McCartin, a lineman, ended up at PSU.

not quite the same, but when 'Nova dropped football, PSU ended up with a least 2 players and a coach!

Agreed. WE saw how that worked out for players that left. Anyone who bails is not worth having. There are better options.

Do you think the newly-minted Mississippi State coach might have any interest? Not sure what Joe Moorhead needs, and I think he is inheriting a pretty good situation, but it is a chance to stick a finger in a rival's eye.

You've been consistent on that point. For sure.
