FC: Six ND players arrested...

WOW, I can't believe this board is missing the main point here. In the last few years ND players have been involved in multiple cheating scandals, academic suspensions and criminal
Cases. The point is ND is not supposed to recruit these types of players. Kelly is doing it and the University must be letting him do it....For the sake of winning.

I don't know much about firearms laws so please bear with me but how does this work:
"Redfield, Stepherson Jr. and Williams also face an additional charge for possession of a handgun without a license."? I mean, how can 3 guys be charged with not having a license for one gun? If they can't determine whose gun it is, shouldn't all 5 guys in the car be charged?

Woody, just a guess but maybe the gun was found with the three guys in the back seat so it's assumed it's doesn't belong to the two guys in the front? Of course I'm assuming the guys charged were in the back seat and not up front.....or split between front and back seats. Again, just a guess here!

Possession of an unlicensed gun is only a misdemeanor? I'm surprised, but admittedly not very knowledgeable on the topic. Is this standard in most states?

Lurker is full of crap. I was last pulled over , as a middle aged white guy , and ten mph over. 55 in a 45. I had no weed and no illegal guns.

I got a warning since I as polite and had no weed and illegal guns. Cops are training to look for certain things and traffic stops are a way they catch many people doing illegal things, like weed and illegal guns.

Some people wake up stupid, I swear.

Yep, like I said. I got pulled over for ten over. Middle aged, white, but no tail light out, no weed, no illegal guns.
They were damn stupid and deserved what they got.

As long as he isn't swearing on the sideline on tv or killing managers anymore, ND is okay with it. PRAISE HIM!

They allowed the same thing under Holtz, the coach that ran away from every NCAA investigation.

Every state has different laws in varying ways concerning concealed carry on the person and in transporting a gun in a car as two examples of gun ownership. In Indiana, under certain circumstances having the handgun in a car is not necessarily illegal as long as it is unloaded and not readily available such as in a gun case locked in the trunk.
So it gets murky and we would need a lot more detail to know whether this situation was outside the law or legal.
My guess is the officer asked if anyone was armed and someone in the back said yes. Upon inspection, the officer found the handgun to be unregistered, loaded and on the person thus making it an illegal situation. In most eastern states this would be a felony exceptions might be Vermont which has very few gun laws. In other states maybe only a misdemeanor. Charging all three probably means the officer found the handgun and no one admitted to possession of the weapon.

Lemmings is a good word to use. Don't break the law. Don't attract attention to yourself .

Like not speeding .

Fox News was reporting one of the players was involved in an altercation and ended up tackling an officer.
That definitely takes it up a level.

He was out on his own in South Bend and wasn't with the five guys in the car with the weed with the loaded gun in the middle of the country miles south of South Bend.

ND just announced they kicked their starting safety, Max Redfield, off the team....and suspended indefinitely Butler, the kid involved with tackling an officer. They moved quickly...I applaud that
