Ferrari and the latest drama

You (and a lot of people) can choose to think he’s changed for good. I will remain skeptical. Look at how the Iowa’s women’s team reacted on social media when he announced he was leaving Iowa City last summer. And I’m not including alleged incidents even from before college. This isn’t his second or third chance.

I'm in no way saying he's changed or that he's now a good person. I merely linked a short video where he made some comments about why PSU was dominating... I give him credit that he was highly complimentary in his words on the subject towards PSU, the athletes, the coaching staff, etc... He could have easily made negative comments on the subject as some fan bases have - he didn't. That is all i am saying, no more... nor am i trying to imply anything. In regards to this topic he was asked to comment upon, he took the high-road whatever his other faults may be -- of which there are many.

Some rumblings he may be headed to ISU.

Have to believe Dresser is feeling some heat with how some of their high rated recruits have not worked out and a terrible NCAAs.

Rutgers came away with a total of 12 team points last weekend. Gotta think Goodale would consider bringing in almost any wrestler now.

Of course, ISU didn’t do much better with 18 points. Wow, that is a shocking realization.

Still, it sure looks like AJF has just been following a script this year of what he’d need to say/do to portray the proper penance to get back in the door at Iowa.

I wonder how much of that is real ...

vs. how much is Iowa fans using any excuse to slag Iowa State ...

vs. how much is Iowa fans fearing this is Dresser's way of poaching Angelo. (IIRC he did offer Angelo, so that idea has some basis.) ...

vs. how much is speculation after ISU's poor tournament, Nate Schon not qualifying, Carroll flaming out yet again, and Bartelt not blowing up the Opens circuit while shirting.

It does make sense, and Dresser will take a chance on guys (Carroll, Echemendia, etc.). He also won't put up with any nonsense.

Paraphrasing: He doesn't have the best coaching, training partners or environment. He has to find his own training partners to come in and workout with him.

I believe ISU may have punted the season with their injuries hoping for a big return next season.

I thought RU Crackers was saying AJ and Angelo to Rutgers

If that’s your softer take, our Iowa friends and lurkers should brace for impact of your crankier one.
Damn, you’re right. Now that I revisit the harm my post wishes Iowa, it’s clear I can’t even keep my ‘cranky’ out of my ‘soft’. As hinted, the whole ‘with age comes wisdom’ train left the station before I showed up to board.
I see AJ’s in the portal now. This oughtta be fun.

At 66, I’m crankier on some things, softer on others. Currently soft on AJ, I hope Iowa takes him, Warbucks wastes money better spent elsewhere, and the Hawks are worse for the effort.
I guess waiting for the wisdom of age to overtake my pettiness hasn’t quite happened yet.
I bet you'd be an even crankier 66 year old if it was your granddaughter that AJ assaulted. You might be oiling up that rifle about now. Some things are unforgivable.

At age 76 I cant seem to get the "soft' out of my "cranky"

I didn't read through this entire thread but has anyone mentioned the thought of Angelo possibly leaving Iowa? I know he's not in the portal as of now, but both of his brothers are. If AJ and Anthony find a school that will take both of them, and have room for Angelo, is wrestling with his brothers enough to persuade him to leave Iowa?

Possibly even violent. Same if being any male relative of the woman AJ was inches of crumpled metal away from killing in his macho, asinine, reckless joyride. Resigned now to the pleasure Stephen B gave me last Friday, and hopefully the same enjoyment when Josh beats him next March.
Admittedly curious which school God’s newly devout apostle takes his bible to.

He said in one of the interviews that Bakersfield doesn't have anybody for him to train with, so he had to bring in his own guys.

First, that's a lie. Bakersfield's 184 is 3x NQ Gerrit Nijenhuis. Their HWT went 24-5 and qualified. They're not NLWC level, but they're not cans of corn either.

Second, what a ridiculously ungrateful thing to say even if it were 100% true. This was the only program in the country willing to take him, and he crapped all over the program and his teammates publicly.

He hasn't changed, he just put on another layer of makeup.
Thank you!

Well there is always the threat Gabe might beat him out for the 184 pound spot.

How the hell does he have "2-3" years of eligibility left?
2021 didn’t count. According to wrestlestat, he was given a medical redshirt in 2022. 2024 was an Olympic redshirt. So it’s 2 years if 2023 counted and 3 years if not.

He said he believes he could get a medical, so that is where is 2 - 3 years from, in case he can't/doesn't get a medical.

Right.

2021 didn’t count
2022 possible medical redshirt if approved
2023 regular redshirt
2024 Oly RS
2025 first actual year that counts if 2022 is a med RS.

2 years left if 2022 counts
3 years left if 2022 is a med RS.

It seems like many people look at how someone says something rather than what they are actually saying. AJ comes off as a bit of a loose cannon when he speaks. A lot of what he said was very honest and upfront. His mind seems to go about 100 MPH and that can lead to saying things that come out sounding foolish.
I think AJ's thoughts were insightful and yet simple. I am not saying that I would have him on my team, but I would probably kick the tires and talk to some people who actually know him and the family. I would not take the opinion of all the message board experts out there.
If he has legitimately changed, this is an opportunity to really make a difference in a young person's life. That should be the goal of all coaches. If he has not changed, then woe be to the team that gets him.

I wonder why he does the double bird splits after his winning matches?

According to Wikipedia, he was born in July 2001.

Three more years, he'd be college wrestling at 27, almost 28.

The new icon of perpetual adolescence.

I love a redemption story more than anyone, but once you’ve had the misfortune of being close to someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder you can spot them a mile away.
