Wrestling season withdrawal... Looking forward to any event! Quick q for the forum - After looking at the Flo Nats brackets quickly, thought occurred to me that there are not many entries for such a high profiled tournament. Can anyone comment on that? Also, are there some big names missing - Fix, Teasdale, etc?
 
There are few top 10 nationally ranked kids entered. Highest ranked kid in the tournament is Seth Nevills at #2 in his weight. Furman is ranked 16th at that weight.
 
When there's 15 "National" tournaments, top kids can't make every one. Now, add in Dapper Dan, State vs USA Dream Team... Things get harder. It's just not feasible.

Yeah this match wasnt great. Eds shadow is enourmous im sure.

three years at Blair means a lot I'm
In a wait and see mode the kids a great natural athlete.

Going to Blair should be huge help though, As a Susq. Twp recent(ish) grad, I can promise he's not getting great coaching and there's no local club that's all that fantastic in the area.

Agree Comparing him to Ed is unfair, in my mind Ed is probably top 20 or 30 in NCAA history. Think about how elite you have to be just to be an AA let alone champion. Actually when you consider only a slim percent from high school make to starting in division I that in itself is something to be proud of.

Didn't the Pepplemans run a club out that way or was that wrestling room they had built just for the kids that wrestled at CD?

They did, but look what's happened to CD's program. Kids are mostly leaving for McDevitt. Ed trains at Iron Eagle out in Mechanicsburg of Mike Evans fame

Look good in his second match, down 3-2 with a minute remaining and got a pair of takedowns and a point elsewhere to get the win. Seemed to really push the pace late and his opponent looked gassed. Kid he was wrestling also looked massive.
 
In the qtrs, Joe Blumer has Cole Mathews and Edmond Ruth has Robbie Patrick. Should be good measuring stick matches. Seth Nevills hasn't wrestled yet.
 
Yes it will. Spyker gets his wish, reseeding put Ruth vs. Patrick in the quarters.

Huge PA state finalist match in the quarters in the other half of the same bracket -- Stillings vs. Starocci.
 
Rematch of the state final for Ruth in the QF, Hoffman currently rolling his R16 opponent on Mat 6

I agree he is a Soph wrestling 152 plus 5 and needs a great Coach..Everyone watch him after a year at Blair...Like his brother he will be GREAT to say the least....

Ref in the Gavin Hoffman match is just sort of strolling about out of position haha

That state finals match went into overtime....Patrick is really good....

Bet he is equal to his brother or better if he comes to PSU...Cael and Casey knew where he needed work the most and made him dominate.....They will do the same cause he has the same areas,,,Cal and Casey will already have a head start on Everyone...That is a GREAT recruiting tip they MUST make....

Seth wrestled a rather rotund kid and got the fall at 2:22. Jelani Embree is going to be an absolute beast when somebody shows that kid what to do. Michigan got a stud.

I will take that bet in a heartbeat. Nothing against him. Because it's incredibly difficult to be an NCAA champion, let alone a 3x champ.

It will all depend if he comes to PSU...I will not bet he will be a 3 or 4 time champ anywhere else !!!! I have TONS of faith in our program and so do the upper ELITE wrestlers....

Thanks CSauertieg....Wish Edmond had Patrick later in the day...Oh well should be a great match...LETS GO EDMOND...Gotta send him some love...He will get up for this big match....What time do the quarters start tomorrow ??
