critics, you’re just flat out wrong. He is a complete back and his yards per carry stack up with the best in the Big Ten. The three most impactful players on this team are Allar, Singleton and Warren in that order.

Oh nice since Allar and singleton are more impactful, does that mean they have an even better chance of getting invited to New York for the Heisman ceremony?

I personally think he is a great back and he should get 75% of the carries rather than splitting 50-50 with Allen. I just wish the coaches would teach him how to avoid the ankle tackles that seem to plague him over the last two years. He seems to get tackled just as he hits the open field . Barkley, Sanders, and Journey Brown did a better job of switching gears.

Allar had better odds of winning 2 weeks ago but the order is Warren Allar and Singleton. Warren would be impossible to replace.

Singleton is a great back. He just goes down way too easily.

Coaches see this too which is why he gives up so much time.

Singleton should be used more on quick pitches to the outside and double the swing passes in the flat. Running him between the tackles is counter productive, and with a delayed hand-off allows the D to collapse the hole. Same thing happened to Saquon in our big games.

Would love to see some yards after contact stats for us vs our opponents. It does seem like our backs drop pretty quickly and our opponents’ RB’s always fight tackles and tend to fall forward. I mentioned (screamed) it a few times this past weekend.

Agree Singleton is impactful, disagree with your order. However, with his speed he should get more touches.

How many times the last two years did see a defender laying in the ground, reaching out with one hand, having a momentary touch on his foot or ankle, and down he goes?

Complete nonsense - Singleton averages 6.0 ypc (vs Allen's 4.5). He has 38 less touches than Allen and effectively the same amount of yardage. If we include receptions, Singleton still has 18 less touches and 153 more yards from scrimmage (921 yards versus 768) - and 9 TDs vs Allen's 7.

Allen is the RB who breaks ZERO tackles - I can't remember the last time Allen hasn't gone down on first contact. Singleton's overall numbers, although reduced in number due to nagging injuries, are still "elite" (he's also a way better passing option out of Backfield).

He's had nagging injuries which is what's limited his touches. CJF said he is back close to 100% - which is great news as PSU enters the Playoffs.

That’s great info but does not address Singleton's issue of not breaking tackles and getting hand tackled.

Singleton lives and dies by his long open field runs. He is terrible in short yardage as he goes down from a light breeze.

That is why we use Allen in short yardage and also why Allen's stats look worse.

The Heisman trophy voters have as much credibility as the Nobel Peace Prize. Who cares?

Thank you for this. Singleton hasn't been fully healthy for a good part of the last two seasons. Of course he is still developing but he's a really good back right now -- breakaway speed, great receiver, great blocker. And Allen is a terrific counterpart to Singleton -- lacking the breakaway speed but a great inside guy who just gets first downs. Singleton and Allen are both winners and I want them on my team.

It's kind of to PSU's benefit that Singleton and Allen won't be projected 1st round picks. It means we PSU fans might get to enjoy watching them for another season.
