Thoughts after rewatching Minny

Or making a defender miss. It’s like we admit defeat when then defender is there. Was glad to see Trey actually make a guy miss on a catch.
Yep, even though overall PSU's defense didn't give up too much running yardage in the USC game, my memory of their RB is that he made a good many PSU defenders grasp for air and that I'd take him over any RB PSU has on it's roster for pure running ability. What makes Singleton more valuable is his exceptional pass catching ability. He leaped up this past Saturday and made a catch that not many RB's would make and got some yardage. He had 6 targets and 6 catches - I know RB's usually catch a higher percentage of the short throws they usually get but Singleton seems exceptional in his ability to convert his targets into actual catches and positive yardage.

Watching him delay his kick (as they all do now waiting for defenders to get downfield) and then angling to the outside to kick it right into the guy who blocked it, is the definition of an unforced error. Mind numbing indeed.
Agree. I hope he's the last Aussie punter we every see on the roster... I can't stand the run-up!! You are asking for it to be blocked. Moreover, they seem to be inconsistent with yardage and the ability to land inside the 10... Good old fashon 1-2-punt has to be available in the portal.

Yeah he’s been pretty poor this year

He's basically the exception not the rule. The Russell Wilson or Drew Brees-type QBs usually have more to prove to get a shot. Going to be tough for Gabriel despite some success by Murray

Everyone else is plenty tall but the NFL loves QBs like Herbert, Lawrence and Josh Allen which is only Allar and arguably Beck. Drew probably as 20-25 pounds on Beck

Put him at Slot WR.

By what metric? Kaytron's 16 rushing yards lead (with 1+ extra game) will be gone by season's end, receiving is not even close, and don't forget Singleton's kick return yardsb
By many metrics - including the ability to pass protect.

But as a runner, he has been superior and is why he has started the majority of the time.

Singleton is fast. But he goes down every easily. Good back, but a disappointment.

Allen has overachieved and has gotten the tough yards much more than Singleton.

Neither are great, but Allen has been much more dependable. And tougher.

Allen had 7 carries for 10 yards vs Minnesota, and 6 carries for 20 yards vs Purdue. That doesn't seem like dependable.

Look at the totality of his record - including availability. Good grief.
I think you really believe that there is a number which proves your stance, but there really isn't. If you're an "eye test" kind of guy, then to each his own, but you might want to get some glasses.

Singleton has outplayed Allen this year but the design of the offense also favors him
Allen was the better back last year
Stats never tell the full story but if AK insists on using Allen on this slow developing plays his ability to be successful will be hindered. Just like Singleton rarely breaks any long runs despite his speed because his vision is lacking.
Both are very good backs and are needed for us to be successful but the play calling has to do a better job of allowing them to succeed
AK is an improvement over last year but there's still many issues with our play calling.

nobody is talking about this either. I am not sure why people still complain about Allar's running or play-extending ability. In this case, he knocks out MN safety.

Mostly negative Nancy's in the in game thread. In their defense, most were still griping about the blocked punt rather than acknowledge the ....44 second scoring drive with 1:03 left before halftime.

Our offense works better with 2 minute drill tempo. Easy passes to get the chains moving, then darts down the field.

I would love to see us go to more of a hurry up/2 minute offense earlier in games to establish the rhythm. I just don't think AK cares about. He believes all the motion and disguise is more effective.
I am very curious to see what this offense looks like next year if Allar, Warren and Singleton are all gone. That's a lot of talent gone BUT he may actually be better with lesser talent as that's what he's used to.

Not at all…simply look at the numbers…and the best ability is availability.
