FRL

While on th subject of FRL, has anyone discovered how to listen to it “live”? I’ve looked on Flo app, flo.com, Facebook, Twitter, nothing ever directs me to it live.... I always have to wait for podcast.

I’m sure it’s my own stupidity:oops:, but any help others cn share would be deeply appreciated.

Flo app is quite the maze, my friend. Robert Langdon would struggle to navigate that thing.

Worked fine for me. Just listened over lunch, but was not on the app.

90% of the time, I'm driving, go to website on my phone, and it will say FRL, click and listen. Sometimes it's not there till 9 or shortly after. I refresh the screen every couple minutes till I see it.

Once in awhile, they only go live on facebook which I don't have so I wait for the podcast for that.

Then a couple times, it wasn't on the website. I went to my twitter account and it was showing live there on twitter and listened from there.

Thank Pish, too bad it’s not a bit more consistent, but I appreciate they time they take producing it and listening to it. Thanks again.

Nothing PSU related today. Spent about half the show on the Iowa/Iowa State dual and the rest of time on CKLV
They didn't even bash our fan base for "collectively" demanding that RBY get a high ranking? Surprised after yesterday's twitter banter....

What was all of that about? Who's crying about RBY ranking? He's ranked 14th by Track and 10th by NCAA.com

Flo doesn't yet have him in their top 20--and CP mostly (though Spey and others chimed in) were responding to a lot of pro RBY tweets explaining how their ranking is based on quality of wins/losses, etc. Roman hasn't really faced anyone ranked yet, so via their own system (which is probably a pretty good one), he's not ranked. Whatever. He'll earn the ranking that matters most--the one decided on the mats in Pittsburgh.....

Intermat doesn't have him ranked either. Sometimes you can sneak into the top 20 just by winning consistently against unranked guys however 133 is so deep is going to take some wins over ranked opponents.

Life got busy and haven’t had time to catch FRL in awhile. I was always curious, why do some episodes only have audio while others have both audio and video. Maybe it was something I was doing wrong.

JTS, Originally they were just a Podcast (audio), then a while back they got all fancy and began to video their audio taping making it into a video production (as well as audio podcast) which can be seen on their app and YouTube if not mistaken.

The transition is a bit tricky as they then began to run “tapes & highlights” during the show which is less than advantageous to those of us accustomed to listening on podcast while commuting/driving.

So you should now pretty much be able to find both now pretty consistently.

I never seem to be able to find the video version except by accident.

Most times, if you go to FloWrestling on facebook and click videos you can find it. I just listen to the podcast from my ios podcast app.

Good question. Put another way: is anyone too small to ride Micah?

I figured out what all the Back and forth was about. At first it sounded like there were PSU fans crying about RBY ranking by FLO.

Just checked Instagram. FLO trolled PSU fans by putting a picture of RBY and then in description says “new NCAA rankings,”
And didn’t rank him. What did FLO expect?

Exactly. They are the Eddie Haskell of media outlets.

On the clickbait meter that’s fairly low. Doesn’t match the stillshot of Zain on his back against Hayes as they were both about 4 feet out of bounds and Zain had already relaxed. Headline was something like “was Zain stuck?”

Lol. Like kindergartners. Every other media outlet will put out a tweet or instagram post with something like “157 rankings and then have a pic of Nolf.” They go out with a pic of a guy they don’t rank..Jammenz level stuff

And these bozos won't cover the AWL b/c Track streamed it.....Flo continues to be a joke.

I have no personal experience, but I'd guess that it's pretty tough to start a new sports media company and hang w/ the NBCs and ESPNs of the world. Flo has a unique business model, and it can be irritating, but I'm glad they've found a way to (presumably) be successful. Especially since the "giants" are realizing now they're missing out on revenue (ESPN+ look familiar, anyone?). There was a business article out a few months ago that discussed this emerging market in more detail--can't seem to find it. Truth is--content isn't free, as much as the internet makes us feel like it should be.

Maybe I'm alone in my thinking. Stuff like that (see several posts up about RBY and Flo) just doesn't bother me.

It's not about "bothering me." It's the fact that some of the Flo guys were making a point on twitter to call out PSU fans for "bothering them" to stop asking why RBY not ranked.

They brought it upon themselves, no? If they didn't put the pic of RBY, I'm sure there wouldn't have been much if anything made of the rankings

I would also add..I think it's common practice when these outlets do rankings, to add pictures of guys that ARE in fact ranked. Can you think of ANY instance where a ranking outlet would advertise rankings and then put a pic of a guy unranked?

Flo can't generalize an entire fan base off of one or even ten "PSU" fans that complain about RBY being ranked. I'd say the PSU fan base deserves more credibility.

Naw, I'm sure a lot of people would still ask. We're talking about thousands and thousands of people. Let's guess it's 0.5% of our fans who don't understand how Flo's rankings work and for kicks that we have 7,000 fans (because all our fans fit in Rec, right?) That means 35 who are bound to be both uninformed and on twitter. What does irk me is how frequently Flo (and people here, and even people on HR) tend to conflate the opinions of a vocal superminority with an entire fanbase. 35 nut jobs could make any internet forum a steaming pile of cess.

And to be fair, in this case, I didn't see anyone from Flo actually draw that picture of us in this case--I was just kind of expecting it based on previous hot takes.

Methinks you took my post wrong. Was only talking about me, not you or anyone else. A different perspective, that's all, nothing more.

As far as your question at the end, I really don't know, as I said, it's just not something I concern myself with. False or stretched marketing is all around us, nearly every minute of every day...it's why it's called marketing. See that beautiful woman or handsome man in a print ad, or on the tv...try our product, and you'll look just like that. Gets folks to buy, buy, buy...same as a catchy jingle or words like "value", "sale", "new", and the like. Back to the Flo thing...just not a big deal, gets them an extra click or two...that's what it's supposed to do.

Pretty sure that Flo thinks that Penn State fans are the biggest cry babies in wrestling. We also believe that ( I use the royal we to speak for the commoners).

i didnt know about the the RBY pic on the rankings IG post until i read this thread but i just looked it up and saw it as a pretty obvious and harmless joke/troll. it's also instagram, you should read some of the stuff those maniac followers say in the comments. it can be horrifying.

we all definitely know the crazies are a tiny percentage of PSU fans, same with any sport. we hear from the intelligent and educated fans waaaaay more. we may gripe about the ignorant ones but we know the deal. and its a good thing that more and more people ask about the rankings. it means more people are reading them. i'm glad we have to explain how they work over and over. it means the audience is growing!

but just as you'll hear us vent from time to time, i understand message boards are for the exact same thing. so not trying to stop the venting, just providing a perspective from our side. btw congrats on Howard, he's a great kid from a great family. you will hear that from everyone on our staff. plus he's pretty good at wrestling!

Who’s the joke on? fans? RBY? I didn’t think Flo would rank him because I know Christians criteria. So there was no surprise there. I guess I feel bad for RBY having to see his pic advertised for rankings and then bait switched so to speak. The kids dominating everyone and obviously working his tail off, why should he be punked?

On a positive you guys are doing awesome this year, your content is on point and your streams have been flawless (knock on wood).

Since I have your ear...on the Flo app I love the first tab where you guys have your videos. If I scroll down I can see about 20 or so videos. Is there a way to see more from app?

My personal favorite is the army of Iranians that camp out on Taylor’s IG feed. They seem collectively stuck in the denile phase of grief, but their passion and dedication is remarkable.
