From what I have read Sammy took a significant amount of time (many months) to learn how to walk properly again and the bullet was so close to his spine that it was safer to leave it in place rather than risk further permanent injury removing it.
Regardless of what the doctors are saying, wrestling can put you in unpredictable positions, with forceable mat returns imparting loads through your torso in equally unpredictable ways. Nonmedical common sense leans towards Sammy's time on the mat is best left in the past. From a competitive point of view he certainly seems a long way from being anywhere close to where he was. We all know he loves wrestling, but the risk just to end up a R12 guy doesn't seem worth it to me. He doesn't need another AA to prove anything.
