From a Hawkeye

I realize in in the minority, but I root for all B1G teams in all OOC games and during the B1G season I root for whichever outcome is best for PSU (at least I will again now that Beckman is gone). So good luck to you and the Hawkeyes. Although he's hit a rough patch. Ferentz has always been a class act and hopefully he pulls it back together.

Die Michigan Die. Penn State wins I am super happy camper. Michigan losing is better then Christmas for a seven year old. Die Michigan Die, and every Meat Chicken that loves them ( LaJolla ).

Looking forward to a new season and wishing and hoping for the best for all B1G teams. Here's to a great season!
Thank you for your cordiality. I wish you the best, individually. As for your team, I hope they, along with every BigTen team other than us, loses every out of conference game, without exception. I'm sorry, but the conference, and their fans, provided virtually no support during the Sandusky crisis. Beyond that, many actually did all they could to add to our woes. Iowa fans who visited here were among the worst. You appear to be an exception, and if more like you showed up here, my opinion might change. I have no problem with good natured banter, but what was said here by some of your Iowa brethren was vile and I will not soon forget it.

Fairgambit, I can understand the feelings. I read some of the stuff and was left speechless. My personal opinion (which means very little) is that Sandusky probably got what he deserved. At no time did I ever see any evidence that Joe Pa did anything wrong other than not seeing what was going on. If I remember correctly, there was a time he got in trouble with the BOT for calling the police to check on an allegation of abuse. I personally think the media went into a feeding frenzy and caused a lot of damage with very little evidence of wrong doing. JMO

Love you Gambit, but our very own Board of Trustees created a "false narrative" regarding the Sandusky situation that, in my humble opinion, allowed other fans to pull out the pitchforks and torches. They were fed an incredible lie and merely reacted to it. The truth was so slow in coming out that we cannot even fault opposing fans for making boneheaded statements in 2012 or 2013. NOW, in 2014 the landscape changed and the truth started to come out. Correct me if I am wrong but this is the first year where we can retort with "why did they give the wins back?". Let's gauge reaction to the new landscape before we blame all other conference brethren for their reaction(s) to the false narrative created by our corrupt Board of Trustees.

And if I may....in the early morning hours when JVP passed, there were 2 fan bases that pounded Joe and PSU on PSU's site.............Iowa and ND. Their words were incredibly acidic and they bombarded the site for hours on end. I choose never to forget or to forgive. F*ck Iowa and the Domers. They've earned a disrespect I have for no other schools.

I, too, am leery of Iowa fans posting on our board. I remember one person coming here just after the Sandusky story broke, talking about how they still considered Penn State to be a great program and were supporting us all the way.

Something seemed fishy, so I went to the Iowa board to check this guy out. He had started a thread over there bragging about how he was setting up PSU fans for his big "reveal". His plan was to wait until a bunch of posters had thanked him for his kind words, then he would post some nonsense about gotcha, you all suck, Ped U, etc.

I came back here and linked that thread, asking everyone to avoid falling into his trap. I went back to the Iowa board and saw someone over there had told him that he'd been found out. That doofus still came back here to deliver his coup de grace, despite the fact that NOBODY had fallen for it.

I guess in his mind he was still a hero, and that's all that matters.

Ziggy, I absolutely agree with you, and I have no problem with Iowa fans, or anyone else, who parroted the BOT line. What I do have a problem with were the Iowa fans, and Rutgers fans, in particular, who went way over the top in their vile and disgusting remarks. I have a very long memory and while I am willing to forgive those who will admit they exceeded the bounds of decency and good taste, I have yet to see anyone from Iowa or Rutgers do so.

Regardless of the BoT and their scuttle-the-ship/save-our-asses-at-all-cost steerage, I will never, ever, root for a B1G team...

This God foresaken conference is Little more than a money-making apparatus cloaked in research and academic fuzzy-wuzziness rivaled only by that which is the NCAA ... Both demonstrated their true colors when the institution was left crippled, smoking, and listing like the USS Yorktown... Plundered, was PSU by these two rackets. Both are cloaked-machines cranking out millions+ similar to Soapy's TSM was a cloaked-conduit for vulnerable boys

Joe's biggest failure (other than personally investigating/stopping/slaying Soapy ala Bruce Wayne) was the defeat of his genuine all-sports conference featuring Eastern US schools...

Disagree, I can fault every douche bag that jump on the wagon. When they had no good judgement for waiting for the facts and saying JoePa this or that to boot, they deserve to die.

I will tell you who I think got it right; it was the Student on National TV during the riots that said to the media, "You said JoePa was a hero, treat him like a hero." That kid got it right then and it's right now.

The only school in the B!G I will support is Minny. My wife went there. End of story.

Don't fall for the trap.

Gambit - that is why is referred to 2012 and 2013. The Rutgers contingent didn't even belong in our conference then. Their actions last year were totally reprehensible even though the wins had not been restored (which led to a major shift in the narrative). I won't give the Rutgers fans any more bandwidth on this subject, they are not worth it.

Ok, I don't think we're that far apart in our positions. I am willing to see what our brethren in the Conference will do going forward, although I hate the Conference for so many other reasons, I can only go so far.

While I hate a lot about the B1G, we wouldn't have been treated any better in the ACC in my opinion. The B1G has more prestige and, LONG TERM, it will be the best choice. Can you imagine PSU getting a fair game called at Clemson in 2000 after joining the ACC and becoming the elephant in the room? I cannot.

He posted the same thing on the Rutgers board.. They love him.. Seems like a nice guy, But who knows ?

The Blazing Saddles thread awhile back reminds me of this one....the conference reminds me of the old lady with PSU playing the Sheriff Bart role.

"What did you expect? 'Welcome, Sonny?' 'Marry my daughter?'"

Funny scene in the movie but 22 years down the road it's the same deal here.

And here is to hoping that the next time we come to Kinnick, there aren't 4 people dressed in prison uniforms with derogatory signs.

I didn't mean for this thread to go way off base like this. For that I apologize and will point back to my original post. Good luck this season.

If you are as you seem, thanks for the well wishes and back atcha. There are some of us on this board who have become overly suspicious of anyone, especially from another B1G team fanbase, who posts here. As a mitigating factor, I invoke the saying: being paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you.

You're a good guy Wingman, glad to see genuine football fans stopping by to say hello. As you might expect, there are some festering wounds here that flare up once in a while - many of us still feel the sting of betrayal by our conference, conference partners and our very own university leadership... so don't take it personally. We'll try to save the vitriol for the douchebags who deserve it. Best of luck to you this football season! Hope its a fun ride.
