Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Penn State versus Oregon in 2024 B1G Championship

Great game and PSU gets the ball to start the 3rd quarter. This is winnable and may be a shootout.
This game is similar to 2016 vs Wisconsin. If they score on the first possession of the second half, it might give PS confidence to pull out the win.

I like where we’re at. This team has been a strong second half team all year and is battle tested.

That's what I would do. He probably can't be the starter, but definitely the Amin Vanover 3rd down pass rush specialist.

Oregon didn't give 2 caps about playing Oregon.

They probably scouted Illinois that week.

No mention of our 24 pts vs them?
Rojas probably should be playing safety like a Steve Atwater.

On the play where Singleton was blatantly held on the inside pennant pattern (i.e., shallow flag cut) as Brad Nessler even stated, the reverse angle replay showed the Official looking directly at it and then looks away really quickly and starts walking toward LOS after not throwing a flag. Anyone else know the replay I'm talking about? The Official clearly sees the hold as Belcher literally hits Singleton at the hip and wraps his arms around him as he attempts to make skinny-flag cut - Official absolutely knew it was a penalty and didn't throw a flag, b2g clown crew a complete joke as per usual.

Once we brought pressure, and then tightened up the secondary coverage ... it's been a different ball game. Need to have sure tackling by the LBs and secondary to prevent James from breaking one, and need to tighten up on the slants and I like our chances.

If you watch the pick--Dinkins drifted upfield and never looked back which is why the pass looked as bad as it did--watch Allar
To be fair, Dinkins isn't used to getting the ball thrown toward him

You have the weirdest version of Tourette's I've ever seen.

Had to watch the recording of the first half and just got caught up. Frustrating but impressive we’re only down a score. I hate this crew.

The ball was thrown behind him. Allar needs to throw a better ball.

I'm telling you man, the Refs arent after PSU and its athletic department. They after after you, and PSU and its athletic teams are just in the way.

I think everyone here hates all the crews other than Blackledge

Sorry meant officials, was also catching up on beers. Should have been pi on that almost pick at the Oregon goal line. Was hanging on his hip. He catches it otherwise.

I’m just glad it’s not Gus. I just can’t stand CBS showing giant replays and the live play in a tiny box simultaneously.

Yeah, he's a edge rusher IMO if anything

He could be a true Sam as well. We use him as a Will. He doesn't have LB instincts (probably why his HS played him at DE weighing 195) nor vision. He's a straight line player. He could be a Free Safety, but his tackling would have to improve. With the current 2 year weight gain, edge rusher is my thought as well.

Been undisciplined compared to previous years.

Team penalty yards/game (PSU):
2024: 44.3
2023: 42.3
2022: 48.3
2021: 47.6
2020: 37.2
2019: 46.6
2018: 42.4
2017: 37.7
2016: 44.1
2015: 41.6
2014: 46.2
2013: 33.6
2012: 48.7
2011: 43.3

I think it's just how we've incurred the penalties ... dumb mistakes.

My apologies--beers started at noon here today so I feel you.

Yeah, that could be true--at least the SAM part--I can't see him as FS. I think he needs a hand on the ground with only one thing going on in his head--either get the QB or contain him. I think SAM (better than WILL) is going to take a lot of time

The ball was thrown behind him.

Who am I to believe? You, a lowly poster, or Gary Danielson, an NFL quarterback?
When a receiver drifts upfield the ball is going to be behind
At the half, they blamed DInkins--are you watching?

Bad personal fouls
Pick six-ish
Zone defense first three drives
No WR contribution

And we are still only down seven

Run the ball
Control clock
Get a turnover
And we can win

Alright battle of adjustments coming defensively.

Can Penn State's secondary find a way to slow down Dillon Gabriel and company?

Can Oregon's defense win in the trenches and slow down Penn State's rushing attack?

Win or lose let's leave some feathers and bills and Acme grade hair gel out there, n Marco Rubio ask whether it's duck sheeshin or rabbit seeshon.

You see, you are not addressing the question. You or Gary Danielson?

Are you suggesting Gary Danielson isn't watching? BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Don't like the time of possession and the penalties. Have to "clean that up."

I thought those would be keys to the game. Concerned about getting gassed in the 4th quarter. We have seen that movie before. Possession MUST be the strategy when you prepare for a game like this.
