Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Penn State versus Oregon in 2024 B1G Championship

Oregon answers like a championship team. Well coached.

This defense hasn't imposed their will at all today...not in any chunk of the game.

Like we are ever gonna get that call. Seems to be the way..
We got a call on the 98 yard drive, right?
Listen, the refs are what they are--we knew the crew coming in and they called it how we knew they'd call it
That's not our biggest issue

It’s absurd to think that Oregon has a real chance to score more points vs Penn State than any other team on their schedule this year, right now only Washington and Oregon state allowed more, both 49 pts

Of the six units in this game (both teams O, D, special teams), the Oregon offense is the far superior group. Too much speed and talent for PSU’s D to handle over the course of a full game.

Can’t win many games when the reffing is one sided like this. These games come down to such marginal minutia and these non-calls are much bigger than minutia.

Not a huge fan of the two point conversion attempt but I'm going to assume the thinking is you need two scores to win this in regulation anyways and they really don't want to have to go to overtime.

Then you have to have a play with more options. Oregon had to cover two people on one side of the field. The passer/runner and the receiver. You are banking that someone does not stay home on that play. If the defense is disciplined the play fails.

James Franklin: "gotta give a ton of credit to Oregon, that's a really good football team....thought our guys battled, just too much bad ball and flags, unusual for us(it's not), we gotta get it cleaned up and watch the film"

Howd I do?

The 2 point conversion attempt, while stupid, wasn't even as bad as the decision to kick a FG in the third quarter on 4th & 5 (I believe)

No holding calls. No opi call. No illegal man down field call. What are they supposed to do?
How about tackle in space and not getting burned on every short pass and crossing route. Please. The D line got whipped up front and the run game kept Oregon ahead of the sticks. 3rd down defense has been a joke. The lack of poise and fundamentals has been a thing to watch.

They've made it clear they aren't calling holding on either tea

Reminder this is the ref crew that had the Ohio State game.
This crew doesn’t call any penalties and it seems every questionable call goes against us. Stepping over a player is a personal foul but slamming the qb well after the play is over is not called. Player down the field on a touchdown pass is missed. Blatant Holding calls missed. If the calls were made our way instead of the opposite, we might be undefeated.
