Someone said Basset and Forest go to NLWC during the week and during the day. When do these kids go to school.

I have seen Bo at M2 working with DT. The Gibsons were at M2 for a while now.

E. GIBSON=M.GIBSON=D. FOREST=B. BASSETT

Is that the equation?
My attention span and ability to follow along is horrible but I believe that’s the formula. Personally, I think Bassett ends up at PSU regardless of where the Gibsons end up. I also think I’m an idiot for predicting where an 9th grader is going to college …

Spreading rumors? Erik is enrolled at finger lakes community college. I’m not sure what your beef is. Did I say he was wrestling there?!?!? He trains at Spartan and goes to school there for the gap year. Like many others do,. You try too hard…
Curious why Erik Gibson would be enrolled at Finger Lakes Community College, an hour and a half from Ithaca, instead of Tompkins Cortland Community College (T3C), twenty minutes from Cornell and where a number of Cornell wrestlers have taken classes during their greyshirt year at the former Finger Lakes Wrestling Club (which was at Cornell and is now Spartan Combat RTC).

Now there is a very good question!!

Wait, I thought you said Finger Lakes Community College did not exist? Now your wondering why one of your wrestlers would enroll there. LMAO! How close do you actually follow your team? For years there have been multiple articles about how Cornell, avoids the no redshirt rule by enrolling their freshman at Finger Lakes Community College.

LYAO all you want; I had never heard of FLCC, as it has *nothing* to do with Cornell (and I seriously doubt that Gibson took classes there, although it is possible). As opposed to T3C, which as I said has been used by those at the FLWC to get credits prior to matriculating at Cornell.

See above edited post.

Well.......that was meaningful :)

I would like to see some of those articles, thanks.

I follow the team closely enough to know that no grayshirting Cornell wrestler attended FLCC during their gap year and trained at the FL Wrestling Club (now known as Spartan Combat RTC).

1) No freshman *at* Cornell is also enrolled at Finger Lakes Community College (or T3C), so I don't know what you are referencing;
2) Cornell uses a gap year (available to anyone at any school) for accepted students to defer enrolling at Cornell;
3) Many/most accepted or committed Cornell wrestlers trained at FLWC and some of them took classes at T3C.

Will we ever know which community college Erik attended in NY?

@NothingMeaningful is an acknowledged longtime close Cornell fan and posted with much authority.

@PatMineo22 has been known to rush posts, but also posted with much authority claiming a firsthand conversation with Erik. And he does have the integrity of his new scoop website to look out for.

One CC is an hour plus drive closer. Then again, many CC classes can be taken remotely. Hard to know whom to believe.

The start of the wrestling season can't come soon enough!!!

I'm a little confused as to why Gibson would have committed. Seems odd to have such a change of heart so quickly. There could be an interesting back story, or could just be a kid being a kid.

If Shapiro flips, I'll do a back flip.

Maybe being away in the middle of nowhere New York wasn’t for him. Maybe having your home matches played in a glorified high school gym in front of 23 people wasn’t for him. Maybe watching Cornell’s best wrestler/world champion switching to the NLWC was a wake up call.

It took Kerk about a month to figure out that Columbus wasn’t for him. Teske knew quickly that State College wasn’t where he needed to be. It happens.

My guess is this could very well be a case of homesickness and Erik wants to be close to his family again. Doesn't hurt PSU is probably his dream school (insert jokes about Iowa lol) and he's obviously more than welcome to join the room.

Is Gibson going to UPJ? A Lock Haven wrestler told me yesterday he was enrolling in UPJ and majoring in Nursing

Same question I had, since I live in Ithaca.

I should point out I leave Ithaca for State College rather routinely. Just for Athletics. The rest of the time I’m staying put…. Outdoor life here rules!

You could also add nearly everyone takes advantage of greyshirting. (Mirror mirror) Hard to imagine anyone being critical of Ivy wrestlers doing it.

I don't think anyone is critical of them doing it. What they are critical of is that they are acting like it's straight out of high school and into college and that grey shirt isn't basically just a redshirt..

It is not basically a red shirt! No clock has been started and no eligibility has been used(if the athlete enrolled less than full time).

right, it's a redshirt but with the added benefits of not having to go to class and not starting your eligibility clock. which, to me, is 'basically a redshirt'.
