Gilman's comments about Friday

I'm on the side that these are comments I would expect.
I expect Gilman to also follow through and win. He said nothing negative in any way, it's all just his focus right now.
He wasn't saying he doesn't care if Iowa wins, he was saying that he can't worry about that, his focus is on his next victim.
He is trying to control what he can control.

I would love for him to be wrong and see a Suriano win, but I haven't seen anything yet that says it is likely.

What is there to say about PSU like he did about OSU? "All they care about is bonus, and wrestling hard" ? I agreed with his comments on OSU, and it actually resulted in a couple wins for OSU because Iowa wrestled that way as well.

One other thing, to each their own, but I hate when users intentionally misspell a wrestler's or coach's name. These guys have given an enormous amount of effort to be great at what they do, and we act like Iowa fans and misspell their names? Or is that a nickname for Gilman above? No problem shortening like McD, but the other is just disrespectful imo.

For us veteran wrestling fans from Northern NJ, the wrestler Nick Suriano most reminds us of is Mike Caruso, from Newark , NJ :

Wrestled 123 at St Benedicts Prep in Newark, something like 80-3 , 3 or 4x State Champ

3x NCAA champ too, (Freshman not allowed to participate in Nationals as freshmen)

Funny to hear that -- Caruso is a cousin of my father-in-law . . . his name often comes up whenever we're visiting in Somerville.

Classic bad movie that was fun to watch.

You guys bring up Road House, but I can see Gilman as Bodie and Suriano as Agent Utah in one of my all time favorites - Point Break! That movie also reminds me very much of my days when I really was a surfer. Surfers and wrestlers have a lot in common too.

One of the top movies of my youth. The remake I thought was horrible.

I think Gillman is more of a Chet from Weird Science though. Dan Dennis I could see as Bodie and Bo has a little Utah in him.

Zain is mini Conan

Alright Im done or this will be all consuming.

I must say I can't think of a single surfing wrestler that I've ever known. Please don't get me wrong, I think it's a really cool sport, but just don't know any. I'm thinking that the East coast waves are too small for it.

I know a lot of them on both coasts. If you want bigger waves on the East coast you have to go South. Cape Hatteras can get some decent breaks sometimes.

But what I really meant by that comment is that they have similar personalities. Both sports take a do or die kind of attitude. You won't find a good surfer anywhere who is overly cautious.
