That's Oregon. I think OSU will surprise this year, with 4 returning NCAA qualifiers plus 3 NCAA qualifiers who did not wrestle last year. 74 seems to be their only hole. This should be a top 10 team.

...Portland is a great city...I have been there a few times to visit my granddaughter, who is a pediatric ophthalmologist ...now located in Astoria...

...Portland's river and bordering hilltop reminds me a lot of Pittsburgh and Mt. Washington's ridge...

125: Ronnie Bresser (Orange) dec. Kegan Calkins (Black), 5-3, OT.
Bresser didn't show up to wrestle. Got frustrated and came close to throwing a punch. After tonights showing probably somewhere in top 20 but could reach top 5 if he has improved on last year.

133: Joey Palmer (Black) major decision over Ronnie Stevens (Orange), 10-2.
Palmer is a decent kid. May be top 20.

141: Jack Hathaway (Orange) dec. Jared Reis (Black), 9-4.
Another decent wrestler who might crack top 20

149: Joey Delgado (Orange) dec. Jay Tovey (Black), 6-3.
Always seems to under achieve, but probably just out of top 20.

157: Abraham Rodriguez (Black) major decision over Rodney Williams (Orange), 10-0.
Top 20.

165: Seth Thomas (Orange) major decision over Kennen Lanteri (Black), 16-2. 165:
Another top 20 kid

174: Tyler Chay (Black) dec. Ali Alshujery (Orange), 4-1.
Probably unranked

184 Corey Greigo.. Exhibition
Did not wrestle. OSU does not have another 84 guy. OSU is high on this Rfr, but looked undersized.

197 Cody Crawford. Exhibition
Did not wrestle. OSU does not have another 97 guy. Big strong kid who was a bit raw last year who did win the PAC 14. Based on what I saw last year, a top 10 kid.

Heavyweight: Amarveer Dhesi (Black) tech. fall over vs. James Millea (Orange), 25-10 (2:44).
Dhesi is the star of this team. Looked bigger, stronger than 2 years ago. His quickness sets him apart from most heavy weights, especially for his size. Got 11 TDs in 1st period! Seemed to have a nice array of TD moves including a slick ankle pick. Could have pinned his guy any time he wanted. Top 5 and certainly has the ability to win it all.

Over all, probably not a top 10 team but could surprise. Not having back ups at 84 & 97 may hurt down the road. Other than Bresser who may have read too many of his press clippings, and Dhesi who was overwhelming, everyone seemed to wrestled hard. Should be able to contest at all 10 weights in duals (174?). Dhesi, Crawford, and assuming Bresser just had an off day, should do very well in the nationals and 3-4 others should gather points.

A good crowd I would estimate at around 800.

Thank you very much

Perhaps I was too harsh on Bresser. Apparently the teammate he wrestled, Kegan Calkins a RSFresh, may be pretty good. In a recent tournament, Bresser had 3 quick pins (against no one with any type of rep) then lost to Calkins 5-4. Maybe Bresser sits? I really thought Bresser might be a top 5 kid before the season started.

Just got back from the OSU Rutgers match, won 24 to 12 by Rutgers. I expected more from OSU but I think the West coast lags behind the rest of the country.
The only serious AA candidate for OSU is Dhesi. He just toyed with Smith. Taking him down at will. Would have been a tech but Smith was disqualified for stalling, running out of bounds.
Should be another big day tomorrow for PSU against Stanford who I don't think is as strong as OSU.

You don't think Bresser-Rios could make some noise? He had a really good weekend at the northeastern duals last weekend

Bresser won his match. Bresser could AA but he is having a hard time just holding down his position with a frosh (Calkins) who he beat in SV during the wrestle offs but lost to in a recent tournament. Calkins looked real good in an exhibition against a Rutgers kid after the match.

Was expecting this match to come down to the 97 and hwt. Dhesi did his thing but Crawford was disappointing. He is a tough kid, had a early 4-0 lead but the Rutgers kid just out wrestled him. Delgado was the only other OSU winner at 49. OSU has a solid team, and a couple kids that could AA, but it would be due the the luck of the draw at the nationals.
