.... I wish the guy would of had a chance to play healthy his entire senior season. Because when he was healthy.... he left all he had on the field and what he left impacted the direction and outcome of games. When I think of Ham and Bowman and Conlan and Gifto and Lee and Lavar and the many greats at lbu..... Bell will be right there with the rest of them in my memory banks of LBU greats.

I know this won't be done....but....

#11 jersey should find it's way to the top linebacker at PSU each year.

I think Michigan does this with the #1 for WR.

It isn't the Penn State Way to overly celebrate one player over another. Along similar lines, #22 should not have been retired.

If I recall, Spider used to assign #31 to the most worthy LBer. That's how Poz went from #39 as a true freshman to #31. #31 and #11 for LBs would be great. Other positions could be done, too: #32 for a RB, now add #26!, #12 or #14 for QBs (#9 coming?!), etc.

Retiring #22 was a deliberate slap to JVP by Joyner, imo. I'm surprised, and maybe a little disappointed, that Cappy agreed to that. It may have been sold to him as a unifying gesture to help bridge the past legacy with the current, but I am skeptical of even that.

I am all for a prominent Ring of Honor around the stadium for our best of the best student-athletes, and the honor of wearing a particular number given with some ceremony around that, but not retiring numbers. I hope we just quietly step away from that and leave it at the one retired number. And once it was done, I'm not sure why they didn't take the next logical step and put up a display about it in the stadium. The 'logic' of the Old Guard escapes me still.

Bell will be the biggest departure, and not just for his play also for his but leadership on and off the field.

Bell is / was a stud this year, and this week. The game went to hell when he went out with the injury. Lots of reasons for the 4Q issues (pass rush, Darnold is also a stud, SC wideouts are good, ...), but Bell leaving the game is on that list. I wish him the best!
