Some of you know that my 11 year old daughter loves playing goalie for field hockey. Last night she was invited to play for the high-school team. She was very nervous the first game and lost 5-0. She gave up 2 bad goals from what she said.

The next 3 games she had a shutout, gave up 3 goals in a loss, and then gave up 5 in a 5-3 loss.

Tonight she played 3 games against Jr high teams and she shutout all 3 teams. She had about 25 saves, but I don't know how they count them.

I just wanted to add a little levity to the board. I hope all of you are well.

Thanks, histone. That was some welcome good news on a bad day.

An 11 year-old playing high school ball? Wow.

Good stuff, histone. Hopefully Char will get to coach her in college. ;)

BTW, has she been playing in any LAX tourneys this summer? If so, what team is she on?

She would love to play for Char! But think she thinks the goalie coach is awesome, she likes him way too much.

As far as LAX, she was invited to play for a NEPA team this summer, but she is playing too much field hockey to commit to a travel squad.

She will be at VA beach next week, and she made the Keystone games the following week.

Our future Penn Stater has a busy summer. Kids are great!

I was getting ready to head off to bed when I read your post. It is sending me off to slumber with a good feeling. All the best to your daughter, and to you.

Thank you Fair,

Best wishes to you and your family as well.

Even through these tough times, our family loves PSU. My kid's goal is to play for PSU in 2024.

She has 2 friends that play LAX and hockey with her and before games they scream,"2028" the year they want to be in the Olympics together. Dreams are fun for kids.

Well, keep the information coming. I love these personal stories. They are a part of what makes this board unique.

Hey histone,
My granddaughter and a few of the other field hockey are doing a summer hockey camp now for their senior project. Lilli is accepting an offer to St. Frances Univ. in Division I field hockey. Is your daughter participating in the camp?

Ok one last story.

During a game against her arch rival, Dallas, a parent from Dallas asked , "what grade is your kid?" I responded , "She is 11" He said " She is really good, Do you think she will start for Lehman this year?" I replied, "no, she is 11 years old."

Then we laughed.

Cool histone, let me know if she is mistreated or any other ramifications that may arise from the camp....I'll tune-up Lilli and others if needed.

You are hilarious. All of the LL girls are very nice. But, I will thank Lilli for helping out the youth program. I am amazed how well the High-School girls interact with the young athletes.

Glad to hear, my daughter shared an apartment with her two LL friends at State College...total disaster. It was a good thing I was on disability during that time in the early 90's as I was able to stay at SC and help my daughter out of the mess that the two bitches from LL caused. When I have more time, I might expand on the story.

From that week on, I realized that the female is a totally different animal than human guys.

You must expand on that story. It may help me out in the future.

I met Lilli. She is a nice young lady. She said that you are crazy (in a jovial way). I could tell that she loves you by the smile on her face when I mentioned you.

My grandchildren, nieces and nephews perceive me as an eccentric, unconventional grandfather or uncle.

I will some day when I have a slow day.

Tom

Congrats BTW, hlstone. It's a long, long journey so do your homework and take it one step at a time. My daughter's journey ended well (knock on wood) but it was anything but smooth.

When we went to her NLI ceremony, one of the other parents said "well I guess the drama is finally over" and my response was "Actually, I think this just signals that we are taking the drama to a new level". ;-)

Enjoy it!

Ned please keep me updated on your kids progress throughout the college years. I am rooting for her!

Step, everyone that I talk to about you says that you are a great guy. I hope our paths meet at sometime,

I told her last week that when she plays in her first NCAA game I am going to shed some tears. It has been a long, long journey.

Ned, to be honest, I am scared. She has an older girl that is mean to her, because Faye is starting over this girl.

Enjoy the ride, and as you warned your daughter, it is going to be somewhat emotional. I spent a good bit of time over the past several years with the parents of the PSU WLAX team. A large group of them would arrange their schedules to make most (and for some, all) of the games, regardless of when and where it was played. It was a long journey for their daughters and for them, and they were in no rush to see it end, though to this year's seniors and their parents, it seemed to be over way too quickly. Get to as many of the W&M games as you can, and enjoy the ride.
