He redshirted in '14, then qualified for a medical redshirt last year following a knee injury. Reminds me of the Jason Collins situation at PSU years ago (6 seasons on the roster).
Dude is 23 years old, and no matter what we think of Minnesota's strength of schedule, the key for PSU is stopping this talented RB who is older than most rookies in the NFL right now.
Their QB Tanner Morgan looks pretty good, and it looks like they've got some play making ability at WR based on the stats. But again, Minnesota's competition, at least defensively, has not been very good.
So for PSU defensively, it's all about stopping their running game and putting the game in their QB's hands. I'm glad this team is undefeated actually; they'd be more dangerous (i.e. it would seem more like a trap game) if this team had 1 or a few losses already. But with Minnesota now at 8-0, hard to believe Penn State would look past the Gophers.
One thing I was expecting more from the D yesterday was sacks and TFLs -- only 2 and 5 respectively against a struggling offense with a banged up OL. Can't let their QB Tanner Morgan get comfortable, whether we're stopping the run or not.
