While reflecting over the past season, what decisions by anyone in wrestling made you go "Huh??"

1. While losing 2-6 in the 149 NCAA finals, and having no luck whatsoever of escaping from bottom vs ZPain, Mayes with his option to start the 3rd period chooses ...... Down ?

2. Talented (but troubled) PD3 going completely off the rails on his Twitter & instagam feed and basically boycotting any ISU dual meets, and ended up being suspended from the team. His future status in limbo.

3. Sammy Brooks choosing to go upper body / double unders vs Bo Nickal in NCAA semis.

Others ?

Me, believing that Spyker really had inside information and that Suriano would be back for BIG10's. And then, 2 weeks later, believed him again, that Nick would be back for NCAAs.

Brian Realbuto, leading BoJo 7-5 late in the 3rd period, tried to counter a BoJo TD attempt with an upper body throw (while adding an elevator to his efforts), but got stuffed, and gave up 2 for the TD and 4 NF, and lost 11-7 in a NCAA semifinal match.

Fans can give grief to wrestlers that move their feet, sprawl (i.e., carefully stall) when they have a lead, but that's also tactically smart wrestling. Realbuto took an unnecessary risk, which kept him from reaching the finals.

Lizak not choosing top when he had choice vs Cruz

The decision to Pull Hall's shirt when we didn't need the points.(he pulls the pin on the grenade and ducks for cover):)

Wow. That oughtta stir up the puddin'. :D Here's some fuel for the fire: We could've avoided pulling Hall's shirt by dropping Gulibon to 133 after the injury to Cortez, starting Moss at 141, moving Bo to 197 and allowing Shak and Mouse to battle it out for 184. Shak wasn't a 174 and Mouse wasn't a 197.

There's that, with every word of Tom's being completely true. It's also true that Mr. Realbuto dared to go bold with a move, without fear of failure...something Cael teaches. I'll give him kudos.

157 Lehigh Jordan Kutler not make weight for EIWA Championships. I was hoping to see him knock a couple guys to the backside of Nolf's bracket.

The Sammy Brooks one is really interesting. In hindsight, bad move, but.......

Bo caught him in the dual meet but it wasn't upper body. Sammy pretty much dominates MyMar and MyMar has had success a couple times going upper body with Bo. I guess Sammy was thinking transitive property there. After 2 matches, I guess Sammy is just balls to the wall and would rather go out on his shield than change his nature. Sammy grew on me a lot the last couple years.

Agreed. With the way it was always presented that the plan was to RS, this was a real head scratcher. It seemed clear at the time, and turned out to be true, that Hall's points weren't needed to win.
Obviously Hall changed his mind about the RS. And, it worked out well though.

Sammy would rather puke than stall his way to a victory. I like Sammy's style, attitude and of course his ability to participate in an interview.

Cael made a promise to the kid and he kept his word.
Cael also did not give the spot him. He gave him an opportunity to eliminate with Geno for the spot.

#5 The epicenter of college wrestling has shifted east a bit. I don't get the St. Louis lovefest myself but as long as the east gets a seat at the table every other year.........I know NYC isn't everyone's cup of tea but I thought it was amazing. Would love to see PGH or DC get it.
