I simply can't wrap my head around this and the impact it has on these wrestlers. This is the only thing that would stop Spencer Lee from being a four timer. Kids like Cenzo, Hall and all the others who have worked their whole life for this, having it taken away.
I understand it, but, I feel so awful for all athletes. Hell, selfishly I feel bad for myself. I'm going to miss something that I literally anticipate all year long.

While I don’t believe in any god I think I might have changed my mind. People prayed Iowa wouldn’t win a title this year and here we are.

The guys are really feel for are the seniors. Gonna miss seeing VJ v. Bull & Hall v. Kem one more time.

There aren't enough test kits nationally to test large numbers of people showing no symptoms, for vanity.
Test kit shortage was one of the issues with the South Korea situation. People displaying "minor" symptoms stood in day-long lines to be tested, or told to self-quarantine and return for testing if symptoms grew worse.
That plus there were reliability issues with the testing -- sometimes the tests themselves, sometimes the human error of doctors being so overwhelmed that they misread, misdiagnosed, or misreported.

It is unfair to guys like Cenzo, Hall, Spencer, Kollin, etc... but there is no logistical way to grant an additional hardship year. The NCAA would have to grant a waiver to the 9.9 rule. Then, you are extending the unfairness to underclassmen that have redshirted. They in many cases lose a year of competing. Take Carter Starocci for instance. He would lose a year sitting behind Mark in 2021. Let's face it, we are talking about the NCAA here. They will say too bad, so sad to these guys and move on.

Why do you think? Title IX implications? I know the Duke lacrosse comparison is far from apples to apples but it does represent some precedent for awarding additional eligibility when the ability to compete in and complete the postseason is stripped. I'm not saying you're wrong, just looking for the rationale

Can’t help reading the thread title and thinking “what about the vision tournament?”
I say let the guy who does the Monte Carlo simulation decide it. Maybe after adjusting the algorithms a little bit.
I get Iowa's frustration, actually wrestling NCAAs probably felt just like a formality to them. That being said, it goes against what wrestling (and the NCAA tournament) stands for to give out accolades and awards based on how it would play out on paper.
