This kid is a phenom: Unbeaten, like EVER. Kid pinned his way through junior olympics every match in the first period. Is projected at 160 but more than likely will be at 171 for Southern Columbia in district 4. He'll be in 9th grade next season.

Keep your eyes open, not sure if anyone can beat him next year until he gets to Hershey, but a lot can happen.

His father is a former wrestler with a back story, but I'm not sure about the entirety of it, someone else probably knows. Anyway, could be interesting.

Spelled Gaige Garcia, btw. Not much recent video of him but even the stuff from 3-4 years ago is impressive.

He will be at Escape the Rock next year, so we will see if anyone can beat him before Hershey.

His dad wrestled for mt Carmel, not really a school known for wrestling
Wrestled in early nineties
5th in state as freshman then won next three state championships with one loss over three years
Career record 144-9

He was a coach at Mt Carmel for a short period of time but then one of the kids bitched about something and got him booted
He went to Shamokin SD for a bit but then ended up in Southern

Think he has two boys who've wrestled since they were little tykes but Cage is the better wrestler from what I understand

All I know is somebody is bitter about something involving his father...

Who is the "somebody"?

I know the kid who complained because I coached him in JR High football
Know his mom real well too
But I don't know exactly what the complaint was

Just looked at the PJW database. Looks like both Gaige and Gavin Garcia are very accomplished (I assume they are brothers).

Gaige won PJW in 2011, 2012, 2016 and was runner-up in 2014 (forfeited in the finals). Did not appear to wrestle at PJW in 2013 and 2015
Gavin won PJW 5 straight years in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Did not appear to wrestle at PJW in 2016.

Both boys are phenomenal wrestlers. I've coached against them multiple times and actually was talking about them with our other coach, wondering how they're doing. Can't believe Gaige is that big already. Definitely one to keep your eyes on.

"keep your eyes on" !!
I'm already penciling them into our future lineups.

Mike Garcia - was a freakin hammer in high school.

went to Bucknell and there was all kinds of problems. basically the reason Bucknell program shut down for a period.

Now that we know this Pa kid is a good , I`m sure there is a 50 / 50 chance he will wrestle for Iowa. Some people are just out there.
