How The Fxxk Is That Punt A Touchback?????

NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A TOUCHBACK !!!!!

Visiting team has choice of bringing their own officials - e.g., b1g Turd Officials and a sadly typically "homer call" that was beyond obvious to anybody not hailing from a-holeville, errrrr, I mean homerville b1g Turd Country.

I spotted no less than 5 baloney calls against Utah, fortunately none of them mattered, but the punt call was hilarious. The ball was clearly past the plane of the sideline at about the 10 yard line.

I went back and watched the replay. Ref is standing at the pylon, and he looks to his left to watch the ball come past him. It's not possible for him to have to look left for the ball, while standing at the pylon, unless the ball was already out of bounds before it got to the goal line. Joke.

EXACTLY - He's standing at the pylon.....to his left, it's out of bounds, to his right, it's a touchback. It's way way way to his left.

They showed an overhead view about a minute after the play, the ball went out of bounds about the 5-7 yard line.

IT WASN"T EVEN CLOSE TO A TOUCHBACK.

No matter how the weekend plays out, that has to be one of the top 2-3 worst calls we'll see this week.

I think that's what Bill Carullo refers to as a "breakdown in officiating mechanics". Hey, it sounds so much better and less offensive than "it was an intentional bad call of the beyond obvious homer variety". Don't worry though I'm sure Bill will "man up" and "hold those responsible accountable".... As the old Doritos ad went..."Really?!?!"...."Noooooo, not really".

Is that true? I thought I read/heard that the Big Ten was officiating this game, per Michigan's rights as the visiting team.

Edit: Referee was a PAC 12 guy. My mistake.

That's what I would have thought but noticed that the one linesman (or whatever) was a woman. I don't think the Big Ten has one of that flavor but I think the Pac Ten does.

Don't confuse them with facts. Its all part of a vast conspiracy

Sorry but those aren't the facts - here is a link to the crew:

These Officials are listed as Independent and not affiliated with a Conference. Typically, both teams agree to allow the visiting team to bring officials for "Inter-Conference Games", but they can also agree to other arrangements. In this case, it would appear that Utah and scUM agreed to use an Independent Non-Affiliated Crew (would imagine they used an Independent crew last year as well by agreement).

They're an Independent Crew - the Referee on the crew, Steve Strimling, primarily does Arena Football Games.

That, according to one Pac-12 Conference football official, is similar to what the NFL's replacement referees have experienced in recent weeks.

“It's not that easy,” said Steve Strimling. “Not everyone can do this.”
