HR rumor not good for the Goofers

I live here in Hennepin County, fairly close to the U of M (Plymouth). Probably a very stupid question, but what is or who is HR? A website/forum? Enjoy this site quite a bit, especially during wrestling season

A. A cesspool of human misery .
B. Where the trolls gather like sharks to chum.
C. The Rivals Iowa forum

(Only kidding! Mostly kidding anyway.)

A place where there is infinite positivity. A site which is completely objective in their assessment of Penn States' success. A community which has empathy for all their competitors. A place where the voices of reason reign.

As enrolled athletes, the two men are subject to a University code of conduct that is more stringent than either state law or the code governing regular students. Regardless of whether criminal charges are filed, the two could face investigation by the U's athletic department and be subject to discipline ranging from verbal warnings to dismissal.

Oklahoma State already picked up a heavyweight transfer this year in Shawn Streck who was dismissed from Purdue's team for (allegedly) threatening his ex gf with a gun. I think they're set at HWT for now.

Nah you missed it. A shameless play on the 'orange' jump suit.

Truth be told the whole circumstance makes me sick. Everybody loses. If the accusation lacks merritt significant damage had already been done to the kids, if it does have merritt I am sure the victim suffers not only from the act but the fallout to come.

I have nothing substantial to add to the conversation or opinion on anything criminal or lack thereof, however, I do find it funny (and this is to no offense to anyone on this board, as I'm reading it everywhere) that every ex-wrestler who's spent time in county thinks they're they're a lawyer this week lol.

Or watched 10 plus seasons of law and order. I swear I could pass the bar

Local news said alleged victim is a woman. Claims the assault was between approximately 1-3 in the morning, She told a friend what had happened. Friend called 911 and the guys were picked up
later that morning. GS attorney said her client was totally cooperative with the police and not to read anything into the allegation that an object was used in the alleged assault.

Thanks for the update. Which network? Typically local news broadcasts create online versions of their stories.

EDIT Nevermind, thx, here's a story with that info, though the alleged victim's gender isn't made clear from that story.

The initial 911 contact came to St. Paul Police from a male caller on the 1800 block of Dayton Avenue, reporting an assault on his friend. St. Paul Police referred the call to Minneapolis where the alleged incident occurred.

That was from WCCO news last night at 10. They did not reveal the names of the wrestlers. Said it was their policy as they had not been charged. While the alleged assault occurred in Minneapolis, the 911 call came from the victim’s friends home in St. Paul. Oh, I forgot to mention that the victim visited the hospital after the alleged assault.

confirmed from a UM wrestlers mom it was a female. The police even took the bedding as evidence off of another wrestlers bed who was NOT involved!

So we'll probably know by noon whether they'll be charged, although the investigation can proceed without charges. On the one hand there's the assessment of the physical evidence and witness interviews, but there's also the question of whether the alleged victim still wants to testify. Rarely will DA's prosecute without the victim's agreement to testify.

Regardless of what actually happened, not all victims want to put themselves through what comes next, which here would be amplified by the publicity that would naturally attach given Steveson's stature. Victims often change their mind between the time of the initial complaint to when it's explained what's required of them as a witness, which switch doesn't necessarily render their initial complaint fraudulent but rather a decision made in light of the sober practicalities. I guess we'll see soon enough.

In today's PC climate, Steveson almost needs a trial to be able to clear his name. If the victim declines to testify, there will be protests wherever he wrestles if still allowed on the team. Barring complete exoneration or the State saying he did nothing wrong, it could be difficult to keep Steveson on the team. Does the University of Alaska have a team?

No winners in this situation no matter how it turns out.
