HR - thoughts on kerk

Ventured over to tHR and was reading the local yokels thoughts on our new hwy.

A majority seem to agree with posters here about kerk having a good/great season and that he may be better than their guy big cass.

Talk amongst yourselves but is this growth during covid for the tHR or did cael finally recruit and coach up a good one.

The guest on Willie’s podcast said Kerk had a surgery? Anyone hear anything about this or know what kind of surgery he had?

From what I have heard, he will not be competing this year due to surgery, so you are correct. I’ll let the coaches or Kerk reveal the reasoning.

Hasn’t he been injured before ?
 
That sucks as Seth isn't a shoe-in to get by the Iowa guy (based on last year)... Hope he can do it! Also wanted to see him at the trials

I think he tore his knee up while still at Ohio State. However, since coming to Happy Valley it is my understanding that until this issue, he’s been 100%. This was an unexpected issue but he’s projected to make a full recovery with no lingering issues. Supposedly word in the room was it would be a surprise to not be watching him Saturday night.

Not where I heard it from. I will say I obviously did not see Kerk on the operating table, but I believe my source. I heard this news sometime last week and waited until I seen more smoke in the sky. So either my source told the same lie to the fella talking to willie. Or, it’s finally gotten out and it’s the truth.
 
I thought Kerk tore his ACL his last year in HS and just said eff it and never repaired it

This is true. There's an interview of him talking about not having an acl after winning U23s a couple years ago. I don't remember perfectly, but I think he might have torn it once, gotten it repaired, torn it again, and then decided to just roll with it. It's never been confirmed, but widely speculated that Marinelli did the same thing.

We'll find out, but having guys named Varner and Snyder in the room certainly won't hurt his chances.
 
KV is absolutely key to the team championship, dang it. That and massive entertainment value as well. He is really great to watch. Let's hope this new rumor is bunk. I formally call BS on this one.

If he had had surgery it must be very recent. He performed a bit of surgery of his own on Hemida and Thomas this fall. With our without an ACL he looked 100% and was a terror.

With Gable indicating this may be his last year before going MMA, that would be a huge loss for the wrestling world if we don't get to see them in folk this year.

It will completely suck if this is true. We needed to be firing on all cylinders with all guys healthy this year to take down a deep and experienced Iowa club. If Kerkvliet isn’t going, our chances drop considerably. No offense at all to Seth, who is very capable and likely a top ten Heavy, but Kerkvliet appeared to be just another level up, as in a top 3 guy who was a true title contender.
If true, hoping he gets fully healthy soon.
WE ARE!!!

Do you or do you not know for 100% certainty that he had a surgery? The “if“ and “hoping” are indicators of doubt on your part.

The timing of this surgery just doesn't make a lot of sense unless this is a current injury. If it is for the old knee injury then last spring or summer would have made more sense. Either way I was really looking forward to seeing him wrestle after watching him dominate in Freestyle on Rokfin.

All I’m going on is what I have been told by a very reliable source. So no, I guess I do not know for sure. But it’s very odd for me to hear the news privately mid to late last week, and a guy goes on willies podcast and says the same thing. Not sure when the podcast was recorded, or the extent of that conversation. If someone could give me context of that, I can cross source. I will say it was apparently not an old injury that needed fixed, rather a discovered upper body issue ( a little hockey terminology since I’m also a nhl enthusiast ). Sorry I’m being broad, but I’m trying to respect the privacy of everyone involved and not give specifics while still trying to defend my statement that I did not just make this up. Time will tell soon enough if I’m right or wrong.

Willie's show was taped Sunday or Monday. To be fair, Willie's guest mentioned it and Willie stated he did not hear anything about it.

Show was taped yesterday in Iowa.The guest was former Iowa wrestler Adam Fellers (Felters to some).No reason to doubt what he said

Not sure on the exact day I got the news, but it was definitely before Sunday or Monday. And no, I was not Willie’s guest.

I don’t care about my reputation either. And I completely understand. As I said, if I’m wrong, I’ll gladly eat crow. If I’m right, no apologies necessary as I understand the magnitude of what has been brought to the board, and how everyone hopes it to be false.

It seems like a good rule of thumb for rumors is if it negatively affects us, they tend to be true lol but when it appears it can be good news for us? False.

I thought Spencer Lee was supposed to be our 125 this and next year while Figs backs him up and learns from him!? (Never believed those btw but it's hilarious that something like that was suggested)

Also Willie followed this news by tweeting for 12hrs about his favorites pizza establishment, and there not been any other source to confirm this "news"
