HR to English Dictionary

Maybe it's just my overall issue with that part of the stalling rule.

I replied to Flying Tiger about this. I don't like these rules that basically award mat positioning. When someone shoots, the other guy is going to naturally move backwards. I think you should earn points because you take a guy down, not because you've managed to force that guy into a position on the mat where he can't practice "normal" defense against a takedown.

When DeSanto put his fist in the air, he had just pushed Fix off the mat. It wasn't off a shot. If that's how points are going to be scored, then just adopt the FS rule (maybe with a warning before a point is conceded).

My problem w the pushout rule is if it becomes an actual scoring strategy (i just typed 'offensive strategy' and retyped). Then all we have is sumo. If you can get points by underhook and shove, the rule will end up w the opposite effect of what is intended. As long as there is going to be referee interpretation for other kinds of stalling (and there is), I don't think taking this interpretation out of the refs hands adds much.

I totally agree. And it seems like that is what the "backing off the mat = stalling" is becoming when the referees call it as black-and-white.

In my opinion, the Desanto Fix match is a good illustration of the issue I have with that rule. DeSanto was dominating the pushing, but he wasn't dominating the actual shooting/trying to score. And still, there he was, asking for a stall call.

Didn’t Desanto try a shot at the edge, and Fix stepped out to avoid it? Seems pretty clear to me, but I also think fix had a TD.
nope--Fix was already out of bounds when Desanto shot from the line--I do believe it was a plan to get the stall call:D at least that is how I see it

I've said this before, but I've thought about this some and I'd like to see them put another ring before the OOB. When a wrestler steps in that "grey area" a count begins. After 3 or 5 seconds a stall call is made.
Also, if a wrestler in the bottom position stands and the position goes OOB while he's still standing that should be an escape. I'm sick of guys just pushing the other guy out to maintain control over and over.

1 guy bragged on there that he had 100+ people on ignore. Talk about someone who loves an echo chamber
Ive been a rivals/BWI member for a long time and I have never put anyone on ignore on BWI.

2 weeks ago on the HR I put people on ignore and it really cleaned things up for me.

It will do it for you all as well. Anyone using Sandusky or Pedo or other nonesense isnt bring anything riveting about wrestling. They just arent.

I went back and watched the match as it seems there was some interesting points being made about it overall. Looking at the offense of both wrestlers; I decided to count shots, half shots, duck unders, throw bys or anything that looked like some one was trying to score points from neutral. Fix had 5 attempts, AD had 3. The fist in the air scenario was a little different then you remember. AD pushed Fix to the edge of the mat, pushed him out, then shot. Fix blocked it then countered with a wizzer. I understand why you could've called a stall there but Fix did defend his position. In that same vein, a stall could've been called on AD during Fix's escape. As he was losing his grip, he tried to run Fix out of bounds from about 7 feet inside the circle. It was obvious as to what he was doing.

2 other things that stuck out. First, OSU's mat is horrible looking. All orange is a terrible look, there isn't enough contrast. If they made the out of bounds area white it'd be pretty sharp. Second, OSU's graphics in between matches were also pretty bad, some almost seizure inducing.

You guys have outdone yourselves. This is too important to be left to one hayseed with a note card and an ink pen. Rosetta Stone will now offer a training course as part of the Flo subscription. I hope Flo jumping in on this won't be viewed as more anti Iowa click bait. The language itself is really no more difficult than Chinese. It just seems harder because of the calls for stalling every time you pause the instructional.

2). "Stalling" - Our guy isn't innovative enough to create his own shot so he'll push/pull his opponent around the mat and out of the circle as an illusion of offense. Now give us our earned point.

* The original definition is much longer but i shortened it a bit.

I'm generally a lurker on the message boards, like the info... James, you are regularly one of my favorite posters and this very well may be your best. Completely spot on... The HR generally provides a different view of the world, that I appreciate, but often scratch my head trying to understand. Thank you for posting...

You should put me on ignore :)

Nah. If dunkej never even put 21 Guns on ignore, you won't be added anytime soon. You would have to go live a couple years under a bridge somewhere in backwoods Norway and learn the true lifestyle of a troll before attaining that level.

everyone should, imo.

cite your last post of substance.

You are ugly in so many ways. Cite this post

Turk you are better than that and you know it. I've done it too- get pissed and post the wrong things. You are a new father and a rabid Hawk fan, but you are not this guy. Threads like this are done in the name of good fun. I respect the Iowa program and so many great Iowa fans, but poking the bear is part of the fun.
