I really believe Dantonio opted for the fake FG late because... he knew MSU would get the ball back!

Remember when Kirk Ferentz would rather take TWO safeties in PSU's 6-4 loss to Iowa in 2004, vs. allowing PSU's anemic offense to get the ball back deep in Iowa's territory?

Our offense -- whether you blame the OL, Trace, or (more appropriately) Rahne and the play calling -- was so freakin' abysmal that I really do believe Dantonio thought that even if the fake FG failed, he'd be in good shape to get the ball back in enough time for a game tying FG. Turns out it was a TD instead.

Go back to that last PSU possession though. 1:40-ish left on the clock. 3 predictable plays when all of us in the game day thread said that we'd need to pass the ball to have a legit chance for a 1st down and thus win. What do we do instead? Run, run, and (worst of all) run out of bounds. In retrospect, since Trace single-handedly stopped the clock running out of bounds anyway, he would been better off trying to throw for the first down.

I've said it before, and will say it again. Talent wise, this is a top 2/3 team in the B1G. No question. Football IQ...from the coaches to the players...middle of the pack at best. MSU outsmarted them today....coaches as well as players.
