I was disappointed in the PIAA playoffs. Most games were a blowout. There

Yep. Mostly over by halftime. The Pine-Richland/St. Joseph's Prep was 14 - 7 at the half. Only game that had the possibility of drama.

In the old system we would have seen a Cathedral Prep-Archbishop Wood final. In terms of competitive state finals, going to 6 classes has not helped so far. Granted, it's only been a small sample size.

If anyone is counting, the pubs won 4 of the 6 championships.

I agree. I am not impressed with the change from 4 to 6 classes. When you have winless teams going to districts there’s something wrong.

Also doesn't look good when a 7-6 team (Conwell-Egan) gets all the way to the state semis. I heard the PIAA shill on the air last night saying how great everything is working. In the time it took to do his interview, 3 more players transferred to Neumann-Goretti.

Is Neumann-Goretti favored to win their 5th straight PIAA hoops title? They lost a lot last year - Green and Cosby-Roundtree.

You mean the same Conwell-Egan team that had a kid transfer in from Notre Dame in Lawrenceville, NJ at the end of October and be able to play for them in the playoffs? Palisades was really ticked off about that.

But but but...everyone has to get a trophy nowadays! You could be here in Florida where we have 8 classes...9 for baseball.

Rick O'Brien has them 5th in the SE PA preseason top 25 behind Westtown, Imhotep, Wood, and Abington. You know there are some good hoops around here if Chester is 20th.

Yes, that would be the same Conwell-Egan.

Last year the PIAA allied Micah Parsons to transfer from Central Dauphin to Harrisburg during the middle of the season. Bad precedent to set.

PIAA is interested in one thing:
$$$$$

The rise of the charter schools joining the catholic schools have killed the golden goose. Those schools bring minimal fans to the playoff games as compared to publics.
I believe there PIAA went to six classes for the purpose of improving revenues. Any other reasons the PIAA spouts is purely window dressing.
Six classes, however, hasn't solved the issue of public vs private. Be it real or perceived, you can't argue the fact it has reduced interest in high school athletics. The attendance figures don't lie.
I'm originally from the D-10 area. The majority of folks up that way hope Erie Prep and Villa Maria (i.e. the Erie All-Stars) get beat in their playoff games. I'm sure Bushwood, a loyal Preppie, would confirm that. My guess is most areas of the state are similar when it comes to the private schools.
