I'm more pumped about the state of this FB Program than ever.

Living thru the dark years and the subsequent trauma. James Franklin deserves a ton of credit. Can't help the transfer portal. But for the portal. We would probably be undefeated sitting at Number 1.

The portal giveth and taketh away. I'm not sure we are undefeated if you put Levis on this roster and remove AK and Tangelo.

If Iowa wins out, this loss won't hurt near as much. Say what you will about the West, but how many teams go undefeated in P5 conferences and their OOC games?

Levis in Iowa City Saturday evening PROBABLY moves the ball enough and perhaps scores 6-10.

Also, we might not win in Madison without AK.

But then maybe Antonio Shelton (or the football player previously known as Antonio Shelton) might still be in the program, and so on, and so on, and so on

I am less enthusiastic about the future. Considering Clifford’s propensity to run, how can the staff not have a backup more prepared to go? It’s that lack of attention to detail that bothers me. Then to not call a time out to address the false start issue.

I know I sound like a broken record but why didn’t they put the QB under center.

Based on the dual threat rating coming out of HS, they may have thought he might be at risk of a fumble. They did one play and we had another false start.

The big thing I'm hearing is Roberson was not loud enough. Call it nerves, call it crowd noise. Perhaps the kid just failed Saturday. It's not the end of the world.

I hope the kid succeeds. And it would be great if he beat OSU. Good luck to him

Clearly they weren't having trouble hearing Clifford's count and MY preferred to have it all coming from the QB. Most of the offense runs out of the gun and they were playing to win which meant using the preferred offense and formation.

Some Iowa fans couldn’t figure out how a new QB who has never run the silent count in a real game situation (if at all) could affect the false starts. Rather they put it all on the OL who jumped because of the crowd noise alone. When it was suggested that running the silent count effectively is a skill that QBs acquire with experience, they doubled down in minimizing the vast difference between SC and TR…basically said it was Iowa’s defense and the crowd that stopped State’s O in the second half, not the ineffectiveness of the backup QB.

Is that in the pro or the con column? Coaching staff was glad to get rid of him

Speaking of Antonio, have any disgruntled former players come out to confirm Franklin coaches them on when to go down? Golden opportunity for some guys who still have a bone to pick.

Alot to be proud of with this defense. I think we all feel it is best D under Franklin and super tough. That said, one year wonder and unless MY has a magic bag of tricks for Roberson, this D could be terribly wasted. I am pessimistic with schedule upcoming. D is so physical and may be more injuries forthcoming as they do everything to try to win.
