I remember when Iowa was part of the conversation with Penn State.
Now with the new transfer and NIL rules they are part of the conversation of who might pick up that 4th place trophy that is busting the NCAA's budget.
Without the new transfers and NIL rules they would be in the conversation of who finishes higher, Rutgers, Lock Haven or Iowa?

We've seen Barr against Sinclair. Here's Sinclair against Buchanan. Circling & hand-fighting & tapping. Sinclair is holding center & Buchanan is circling around the center. Buchanan comes forward & shoots, Sinclair counters, Buchanan keeps coming & gets the TD, 3-0. Buchanan is riding & they go out of bounds, restart. Sinclair gets to his feet, but Buchanan brings him back to the mat. Sinclair gets to his feet again, but Buchanan hikes him up & returns him to the mat. 1-min left & Buchanan has Sinclair bellied out. Sinclair is flat on his belly & not doing much. Buchanan appears too big & strong. Buchanan locks up a tilt, rolls Sinclair over & gets 3 NF, 6-0, as the period ends. 6-0 Buchanan, +2:11 RT
Period 2:
Buchanan takes down. He explodes off the whistle & almost gets a reversal, but settles for an escape instead, 7-0. Circling & head tapping, then tying up. Buchanan shoots, but Sinclair blocks him off & they break. Buchanan fakes a couple times, then drives in on a leg. Sinclair is trying to fight him off, but Buchanan gets the TD on the edge, 10-0, out of bounds, restart, 50-sec left. Sinclair is down, he gets to his feet, turns & gets the escape, 10-1, but Buchanan immediately drops in on a double for another TD, 13-1 & they go out of bounds, restart. Sinclair starts down. Buchanan breaks him down & has him bellied out. Buchanan rides out the period, 13-1, +2:48 RT
Period 3:
Sinclair chooses neutral. Circling, Buchanan shoots, Sinclair down blocks & hits an arm drag for a TD, 13-4. That was slick. Sinclair lets Buchanan up, 14-4. Circling & tying up. Sinclair tries a throw by, but no luck. Back to the tie up, 1-min left. Buchanan faking, then shoots, but Sinclair blocks him off, 30-sec left. Back to circling & tying up. Sinclair shoots, but misses. Sinclair is coming forward a little now. Buchanan shoots, but Sinclair blocks him off. Sinclair shoots, but time expires. Buchanan adds a riding time point, 15-4. Buchanan looked really good. He's a big boy. Sinclair really struggled on bottom.

Give credit where credit is due. Iowa looked good. They look to be in typical December form, firing on all cylinder's. Peaking is a frame of mind.
This is the same guy Kueter debuted against last year off of football practice and won 5-3 and said "He wrestled like s***" Tabor is a NQ but went 0-2. But college debut with limited mat time, I came away super impressed with the kids abilities.
Kueter's potential is sky high but I felt he would have progressed a bit more by now being solely focused on wrestling the last few months for the first time ever.

The "Hawkeye Salute" tourney......what a bore! The only really meaningful match resulted in a MF. Can I have the last last 2 hours and 15 minutes of my life back? I know I'm overreacting, some good matches....I liked the one Navy Midshipman's toughness and fight, but going forward they should call this the "heavy on the head, claw ride salute tourney".

The only meaningful match was Parco vs. McNeil. They've combined for 6 AAs.
But yeah, good thing they watered down the real Midlands in order to continue Son of Midlands post-pandemic.
