125 - S.Lee, Major, 0-4 Iowa - Lee has been rolling but I like what I saw from Kuhn and think he can avoid getting put on his back.
133 - Keener, Major, PSU 4-4 - Wrestled three tough ones in a row, he'll be ready to do some damage vs Laux.
141 - N.Lee, Dec, PSU 7-4
149 - Retherford, Major, PSU 11-4 - Sorenson will be extra cautious and defensive after getting decked last year.
157 - Kemerer, Fall, PSU 11-10 - This will be as close as Iowa gets. Pipher hasn't been pinned by anyone yet, but that's about to change.
165 - Joseph, Dec, PSU 14-10 - One of the matches of the night, could swing either way.
174 - Hall, Major, PSU 18-10 - No sweat
184 - Nickal, Fall, PSU 24-10 - Bo decks
197 - Rasheed, Major, PSU 28-10 - or Cassar as well, both major
Hwt - Stoll, Dec, 28-13 - Gallant effort vs Snyder to avoid a major, but he'll need that same type performance to beat Stoll.

I think Lee wins by a little more and I like Nick against Stoll.

.

Could swing either way ?

No way. Joseph has really hit his stride recently.

The Bull is a fine wrestler but he lacks any offense to threaten Joseph’s Hips of Stone.

The only possible ways The Bull beats Cenzo on Saturday:

1. Zero takedown match goes into 2nd OT rideouts.

2. Joseph goes to Rec Hall at 8pm and everyone else is at the BJC.

And some don’t participate in kypsw, mostly because I would probably be terrible at it! ;)

I agree that the way VJ has been wrestling makes it hard to think an upset is possible. However, we just witnessed a #1 go down to a percieved mid AA on saturday night. Anything can happen. I dont think Marinelli has enough offense to pull it off though

Man, ignoring Vodka was the best decision I've made this year. The other thread is a train-wreck that I could have not avoided 3 weeks prior to this date. For that, I am thankful.

Anywho, my prediction of the OSU match was almost Nostradamus-esq, so I am going to do it again for the ChickenHawks..

125: BJC is so loud Spencer doesn't hear the whistle blow and Kuhn headlocks him for the pin in 5 seconds flat (bet none of you thought Nato would get headlocked either huh? :)
133: Another headlock. Good guys up 12-0
141: 3 consecutive lat-drops in 27 seconds for the tech. Tom calls a timeout to regroup but he is informed that he has to wait until intermission. Teri throws the brick at the ref, gets ejected, and gets tossed on his head outside of BJC by Cutch and Shaq because they are still injured and can't wrestle. Team warning to the CHawks. 17-0 good guys
149: Zain changes the music up to "Baby Got Back" the acoustic version, and then shows Snorensen the lights in limited time.
157: Kemerer loses on disqualification somehow. I ran to the bathroom and when I came back we had 6 more points. No explanation needed. Good guys 29-0
Intermission: Iowa docked a team point because Teri broke into BJC and tried to grab the ref. Tom explains that grabbing the ref is totally okay in Carver but to no avail. 29 - -1 Good guys
165: Cenzo swaps the singlet for a matador costume and proceeds to destroy the bull by tech in the first. 34 - -1. Tom throws the brick and challenges the uniform change while doing burpees and Teri again breaks into BJC but this time Shaq and Cutch are ready for him and lock him in the broom closet. Another team point 34 - -2 Good Guys.
174: Mixer +6. 40 - -2 GG
184: Bowman is a scrapper but Bo is really upset about all the noodle arm comments on HR so he pins him with his left leg, in 15 seconds. Match is getting out of hand and now. Teri is banging on the closet door wanting out, threatening to beat up everyone in the BJC. 46 - -3... Yep, you guessed it, another team point.
197: Cassar breaks Cash but they shake hands after the match and briefly embrace as a show of respect. Going tech here in the first as the Raptor has a new sense of self worth and becomes a bonus machine. 51 - -3 GG
HWT: Stoll Forfeits but it's 100 percent due to injury and not because he wants the 3 seed at BigTens to avoid Snyder.

Wow, 57 - -3 Good Guys for the win, seems like a good night in Happy Valley to me.

On a side note, I think its 8-2 with 57 and 25 being some sort of bonus for the Hawks but, look for Kuhn to hold to a major if he can avoid the tilts early. Excited to see him again. Nevills proves he is the actual 3 seed and doesn't let Stoll push him off the mat repeatedly for the win. Keener, Lee, Zain could all bonus but think Keener is a 6-7 point winner. Cenzo prob a 4 point match could be closer but Bull has literally 0 offense against any high caliber guys and the "squeakers" hes been wrestling will eventually catch up. Mark and Bo I think bonus and Raptor decision but could easily bonus here.

Lions 32 - Chickens 9

Overall should be a great atmosphere with some fun match-ups that could get interesting if something crazy happens. Can't wait to watch the Bopsy Twins jump around/hug each other for 3 hours :)

Why is it Iowa coaches feel the need to slap their wrestlers on the butt after every match? You watch.

The biggest fallacy heading into this match is the notion that Marinelli has more than a 5% chance to beat Cenzo. All these Hawk fans calling this a "swing match" and saying that Marinelli will pull the upset. Based on what, exactly? Have they watched Cenzo this year? Does anyone really think Marinelli will score a TD against Cenzo's defense? Anything is possible in sports but we need to look at what is probable and that upset is little more than a fantasy. Here goes:

25 Iowa TF - I just think that once on top he'll be turning Kuhn almost at will. Kuhn will avoid the fall, barely. Iowa 5-0
33 PSU Dec - This is the one PSU win that is a complete toss-up IMO. It's time for Keener to start fast and step up and get a W this week. A loss would not be shocking. Iowa 5-3.
41 PSU Maj - I think Nick Lee bounces back big time this week. He'll be relentless. Close to a TF, but just short, something like 15-4, 17-5. PSU 7-5.
49 PSU Dec - Zain has majored and pinned him before, but he'll fall just shy of a major in this one. Winning something like 10-3. PSU 10-5.
57 Iowa Fall - Kemerer gets the pin. Iowa 11-10.
65 PSU Dec - This match will not be high scoring, but it will never be in doubt. Never. Cenzo with the 8-3 workmanlike performance. PSU 13-11.
74 PSU Maj - Boring domination here. PSU 17-11.
84 PSU Fall - Pin in less than 2 minutes. PSU 23-11.
97 PSU Dec - Rasheed could get a dec or a pin. Cassar gets a dec. Iowa kid is decent. PSU 26-11.
HW PSU Dec - Nevills has definitely rebounded from his mini-slump. Stoll's Huggy Bear strategy will not provide enough offense to beat Nick. Nevills wins 4-1. PSU 29-11.

I think Cenzo will win too... but lots of people would have written the same thing about anyone giving Cenzo a chance against IMAR last year. They'd say "based on what? he's already lost twice... how will he overcome IMARs defense and strength and experience... thinking there is even a 5% chance of the upset is silly...".

I agree. It's what makes sports so enjoyable to me. You just never know the outcome BEFORE it happens. Las Vegas calls it "odds".

Cenzo is a big favorites, and his odds of winning are high. But if you asked a random sample of knowledgeable, national wrestling fans, you'd get picks of both Cenzo and Marinelli. Tomorrow night will be fun!!

You answered yourself.

“Wrestled twice” vs never wrestled each other.

Show me all the scoring explosions for The Bull. I already stated if he wins, it’s a zero TD match.

Sure. Anything can happen.

I’ll stand by the 95% probablity.
You can take the hill of the 5% chance.

i would think just the opposite... if you have lost twice, pretty likely you lose the 3rd time. If they have never wrestled, who knows? Agree to disagree... I think Cenzo wins, but I will be nervous until I see how they match up strength v strength.

That's fair....in your strength v strength.....did you account for old man strength from the bull :D

Spencer and Kemerer earn 11 team points for Iowa, other 8 matches go to PSU.

Bonus for PSU at 141 MD / 174 TF / 184 MD ( 13 team points ) plus 5 other decisions, I got it 28-11

I like the comment made above, PSU and kids from PA win tonight!

Much like with IMar, Cenzo has the strength to beat the bull at his own game. Watching Cenzo fight/laugh off 2 on 1s this year has cracked me up. He just leans in with his free arm dangling and is a stone wall. The bull is not taking him down and if he tries to out muscle Cenzo, Cenzo will introduce him to the inside trip.

Bull-Cenzo. Technique and power defeats bullish physicality. Cenzo by 3-4.
This.
Marinelli has developed into a very good, very physical wrestler. He simply physically beat the Minnesota kid into quitting. Lewis has nothing for this kid, and Valencia hasn't the gas tank.
It is a huge step up to the Cenzo and Martinez level when physicality, speed, athleticism and skill set are all elite.
Marinelli is coming to wrestle Joseph and it will be a fun match to watch, but in the end 7 - 2 is an expected outcome.

We all like to make fun of HR, and much of the Iowa wrestling style. However what makes the Iowa matches so much fun is Iowa kids come to wrestle, and two well trained wrestlers going at it both trying their best to win generally makes for good entertainment.

Any hawk fans want to bet to WFL on tonight's match?

You can name the bet, within reason of course.....

TnT are lucky Nolf is out and if they didn’t burn Lee’s Shirt, the Hawks were gonna get Skunked

Hawks always come to wrestle, just not in March

They prefer outside in the middle of November so I guess they can have the weather to blame for any shortcomings. The arctic plunge $$$draiser is also a favorite, I hear...

They wrestle in March and other than Gilman last year they tend to wrestle to their level.

In the past 7 years they have finished as a team anywhere from second to fifth place. It wasn't like they underperformed to finish in those spots. They generally wrestle to their place or a bit higher.

You're mostly right. Except for maybe 2015. (Sorry Hawk fans, that one still must hurt.)

Come on. Doesn't it make it just a wee bit more fun and a tad sweeter knowing they are wrestling their hearts out to win and the Nits will have whooped them.

Hell that is so much more fun than stuffing Rutgers who knew they were getting shyt stomped and did not bother to wrestle or even try to win. I am never going to understand anybody wanting to wrestle in the middle of such a candy assed mental enviroment.
