Iowa suspension names released

It’s absolutely insane that Terry blasted the ncaa for its decision. For enforcing the rules they knew about and were already aware of. They have a serious leadership issue there. No accountability
Exactly. If asked each one of those guys would say they understood the rules and then they went ahead and gambled anyway. Wtf. It's not like it was something they didn't know. They shouldn't have gambled and did. And wtf with Iowa fans and blaming the NCAA for picking on the state of Iowa. It was Iowa prosecutors that pushed this investigation not the NCAA sled dog dumb

Sad to see him and his exciting brand of wrestling leave the stage

I thought the expectation was for him to return next year. His wording seems to suggest otherwise.
I think that’s mostly hopium from the masses. Because he got a medical redshirt for 2022 and an extra year for Covid, he would still have a year of eligibility left, so of course the rabid Iowa fans have him pencilled in for another year, but it would be his seventh year in college. I think he’s mentally done with it. I can understand guys like Fix or Micic who are or were at one point legitimate contenders coming back for one more shot at a trophy they’ve never won, but Brands coming back for a low AA and a couple more team points at nationals? Why? It hasn’t ever worked out as 7th or 8th year senior for the true contenders anyway.

They would have had 4 guys competing for two weights, so this way GIA avoids imploding trying to rationalize that being morally okay in Iowa but not Happy Valley.

I find it difficult to have empathy for a guy who by his own admission bet on Iowa football six times (amongst other sports) and then attributed his ignorance on having missed a mandatory compliance meeting. Did he skip the other five mandatory compliance meetings as well? Sorry pal. Clearly the leaf doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Say what you want about Nelson‘s wrestling style—I think we can all agree that he left a lasting impression on the competitors he faced.

OK, I think I have it out of my system now….
I don't.

I'm sure he'll fight this ruling tooth and nail. Hopefully, he can scratch and claw his way back next year.

He doesn't want your empathy

10:1 odds for his college career being over…

Sorry, but I’m Still trying to get over Tom being involved in. “Train” in high school. How is this not a bigger thing these days?

Nelson previously said he has 2 years left now suddenly he has 0?
He loses this year no matter what.

He could apply for a medical shirt (to recover his lost 2022 year). If so, 2025 would be his 7th year.

But why would he? It's clear that Gabe Arnold will be their 174 next year. Is Terry Brands' son gonna transfer out of Iowa, or get on with his life?

Pretty sure his plan was to go 184 this year and certainly he could do that next year.

Maybe if his dad gets a head coaching job at another college (rumor is he applied for the UNC job) he would bring Nelson along to wrestle in 2025 and use him as an example to his other wrestlers of what he is looking for in a wrestler. Or not.

He could but to what end? If he were a title contender, I could see it. He’s not, especially at 184. Is he going to stick around and put himself through all that to go to R12 and get the team a couple extra points? Why bother?

The shot Nelson took at the NCAA a couple months ago is one more than he would have taken on the mat.
