Is Chryst this stupid ?

Hey, it all depends on what he is telling his recruits. If he told them not to commit until they were truly committed, and he told them to lay off twitter, then I applaud him for setting some standards and sticking to them.

Say what you want about Chryst being at Pitt, but he is by all accounts a solid guy who is quite honorable. He may have some old-school ideas for today's world, but we of all people shouldn't hold that against him.

I'm all for this. It's absolutely disrespectful behavior that shouldn't be accepted.
Agree. Recruits that are verbally committed can't control if another school offers them, but they can control how they react to that offer. The whole going on Twitter thing, saying "Humbled" or "Blessed" to receive an offer from XYZ University is disrespectful to the school you are supposedly committed to.

Agree. But, how about having a QB called 'Chase Wolf'? Pretty badass.... ;).

Seriously though, if Chryst told recruits to lay off twitter and that includes posting whenever you're 'humbled' or 'blessed' to receive an offer, then good for him for sticking to his guns.

Justin Fields has been committed o PSU since 12/1/16. Since, he has tweeted "Blessed to have received an offer from Auburn, Baylor, Florida and Florida State". Should Franklin pull his offer because it is disrespectful to Penn State ?

Did Franklin tell him to lay off twitter? Look - big difference when recruiting five star QBs vs. three star ones, and certainly, CJF and Chryst have different recruiting philosophies. Word is CJF had a similar issue with Parsons and they decided it was best for him to re-open his recruitment; it's simply bad optics when your top rated recruit is tweeting pics of every offer received and plays in HS games wearing OSU gloves. No one is forcing these guys to commit early - if you want to have your twitter fame during your recruitment, don't commit. No one has a problem with these kids milking this once in a lifetime experience for them; the problem is when you commit and keep doing it.

In contrast, I came across a recruit named Bumper Pool. I don't know if Bumper is a nickname but that's how he was listed. Talk about starting life behind the 8 ball.

Certainly nothing wrong with being honored that other schools want you, even if you're already committed.

The whole "blessed" thing is just stupid - IMO

When the F did that start spreading around like the clap?

Yes.

The players can easily thank the offering schools via text or in person to their recruiting contact. The posting of it on twitter is a status thing, a "look at me" type of deal.

What if the coaches started tweeting out midseason "blessed to receive interest in becoming a coach at XYZ University!"

Twitter is a whole different beast for teenagers than the previous generations use it for. It's not a "look at me" thing as much of it being a way to tell friends (and not just random people twitter stalking recruits) that they got an offer.
