The Texans lost to Denver last night, 27-9. This after ending the 1st quarter with a 6-0 lead. The Texans now are 4-3 and 0-3 on the road. FLO ( ) of course is a genius with the offense ( ), but the Texans managed just 271 yards of total offense last night. Not exactly genius-esque.

4-3 isn't bad, but FLO has been in Houston a few years now, and the Texans don't appear to be turning the corner.

Is FLO on the hot seat?

They brought in Osweiller who is playing much worse than he did in Denver. O'Brien ruined him! He obviously isn't a QB guru like Franklin, who has a lightly recruited RS Soph QB among the tops in the Big Ten in passing.

Well he passed over both Bortles and Hack in successive drafts, and failed to trade for Matt McGloin.

Seriously, he lost his best player in JJ. If it was his decision to get Ostweiler, that Issa's on him. Announcers said they signed him without ever meeting with him. Sounds like panic.

did he push for Ostweiler, or was it the GM?
I think it was the GM Rick Smith (?) who was previously with the Broncos in an attempt to "get revenge" against his former employer. There's some bad blood between the franchises, especially at the management and coaching levels.

I think we need to find out if it was O'Brien or his GM that made some of these decisions.
I've heard that it was the GM that insisted on Clowney and it might have been the Raiders that wouldn't trade Matt.
And I can't believe O'Brien would sign a QB without ever meeting him.
Probably someone from the Houston area would know better. Thats just what I heard.

The GM, much like the 49'er GM sounds like an egotistical ass.

Agree with all of that. Last night, Collinsworth prattled on and on about how the Texans wanted Ostweiler and wanted to beat everyone to the punch in free agency. So they offered him and he accepted without every even visiting Houston. Collinsworth went on to say he didn't even see the practice facilities and never met with BOB to discuss a boss/employee relationship (they may have met and talked before but not as a perspective boss). Collinsoworth was trying to be a bit critical of the process without being critical, if you know what I mean. He kind of blew it off by saying 'hey, that happens in the modern world of free agency from time to time' (something to that effect).

Spending a #3 pick on Bortles or a 2nd round pick on Hack are two of the dumber NFL draft decisions of recent memory (yes, dumber than paying Brock Osweiler)

How? Isn't he owed like 70MM? Bortles is regressing and maybe Hack never does anything, but committing high 8 figures to someone who can't play is worse by far. It's not even close.

O'Brien is stuck like 70% other NFL teams... It is a league driven by qb's. Houston is probably a little above average but have no qb to get them over the top. They are searching like so many other teams for a good qb. They rolled the dice and took a big chance on Osweiler. So far it's not paying off. Look at how man NFL teams are taking risks looking for good qb's. It's why when you have a Brady/Manning/etc you have struck gold.

I would rather bomb by overpaying Osweiler than bomb with the #3 overall pick...You can put a price on Osweiler bombing, but you can't put a price on the #3 pick, way too valuable.

Hey, he was sold on coaching in the NFL. Sometimes you get what you ask for.
