Yes, he is elite. Elite teams get upset every year. It happens. That's what makes CFB great.
Today was disappointing. But it doesn't detract from what Franklin has built at PSU.
I think we can all agree that he certainly has not built and offensive line.Yes, he is elite. Elite teams get upset every year. It happens. That's what makes CFB great.

Franklin is not an elite coach and never has been. He might be one day but not now.Yes, he is elite. Elite teams get upset every year. It happens. That's what makes CFB great.

We must also have different definitions of the word “most”…Perhaps we do. I'd say NY6 bowls most years is elite. You?
They were ill prepared on both sides of the ball. With Clifford being hurt half the offense was not in the playbook. The only unit that looked decent was the secondary. Except two dropped interceptions.EFF HIM!!!
The offensive line is very bad at run blocking. This surprises me in that I feel like run blocking is generally easier than pass blocking (and they seem pretty good at pass blocking), although someone recently pointed out that high school offenses are so pass heavy that many guys right out of HS cannot run block. It is obvious still on the staff to develop that (which they obviously haven't) but their pass pro has been pretty good this year.I think we can all agree that he certainly has not built and offensive line.
While I understand what you are saying and I always support him, losing to this team after a bye week is inexcusable. Illinois was awful today. Nothing you can say about upsets or anything else excuses this performance. If you get upset by a team that executes is one thing. This was something completely different.Perhaps we do. I'd say NY6 bowls most years is elite. You?
Ask the fanboys. @AWS1022 he elite yet?EFF HIM!!!
Technically one dropped INT was Brooks (LB).They were ill prepared on both sides of the ball. With Clifford being hurt half the offense was not in the playbook. The only unit that looked decent was the secondary. Except two dropped interceptions.
Why aren't you watching your team lose to Clemson, Spitter?Franklin is not an elite coach and never has been. He might be one day but not now.
I’m not going to pretend to know what is happening with this team, but they were lousy today. Lousy from the start, and it never got better.
Fireable loss, no. Agree with your other comments. This is a fireable loss imo. Clifford should never have been out there. He risked further injury and still lost in embarrassing fashion
I agree that this is a bad loss. But to somehow suggest that this somehow defines Franklin's tenure is absurd. This happens to some team every weak. You hate when it happens to your team but it happens. They basically lost a coin flip game in 9 OT (which shouldn't have been to that point) that was greatly aided by the reds. While I understand what you are saying and I always support him, losing to this team after a bye week is inexcusable. Illinois was awful today. Nothing you can say about upsets or anything else excuses this performance. If you get upset by a team that executes is one thing. This was something completely different.
I don't think he was concussed. I think he has an abdominal injury. It might be ribs, or it might be a muscle strain. Either would hurt like hell. It was probably fine in practice when he wasn't getting hit. I'm not sure things would have been better with TR or CV.Clifford look lije he was in physical pain more than just the rib cages. Those shared practice snaps must have revealed something even more blatantly awful then the Iowa Roberson performance.
Clifford looked concussed and broken on top of whatever.
It was obvious this team was not ready to play and the coaches could not adjust. I turned off the game in the 3rd quarter and turned on the SEC game. Out coached. Well coached teams improve as the season progresses. How could they have 2 weeks and not have Roberson prepared to play or at least give him some special plays? Sean Clifford was tentative the 2 1/2 quarters I watched. He should have been set down. The lineman (OL & DL) are lacking in toughness. Something is amiss, but like you I have no inside info. This could get even more ugly with this team going into a tailspin. There is no way the type of performance today wins any remaining games.I’m not going to pretend to know what is happening with this team, but they were lousy today. Lousy from the start, and it never got better.

Anyone still think USC wants him?
This isn’t on Clifford. No way should any team be Abe to run on you like today. this ream has the worst running game in the country. That’s the reason hey lost.I don't think he was concussed. I think he has an abdominal injury. It might be ribs, or it might be a muscle strain. Either would hurt like hell. It was probably fine in practice when he wasn't getting hit. They will be here MondayWhere are all the Franklin apologists?
The unpreparedness couple with the lack of in game adjustments are reasons alone.Fireable loss, no. Agree with your other comments.
This is a not a good team,Bret>James=trash coach.
Brisker dropped the Int on the 2nd OT trick play(which if caught would have won the game right there)Technically one dropped INT was Brooks (LB).
