Is Nick Lee eligible to enroll at PSU?

There has been a lot of speculation of elaborate schemes on how to score more tournament points in March. To avoid the simple answer of pulling the you know what from you know who.

True. True. Only speaking for myself obviously but I have a hard time believing that we are going to Nationals with our current lineup configuration. IMO, the odds of defending the title are pretty much 50/50. Why stand pat on a coin flip when you could push those odds in your favor?

CP and Willie seem to know something that most of us don't. Something other than Mark Hall. I do believe the game is afoot and something is nigh. Bouncing hypotheses off the board is one method of weighing the possibilities and their likelihood.

Even if Nick could register early, does he improve those 50/50 odds?

There is that. I don't know the answer anymore than whether swapping Bo and Mouse would help.

Lee beat the tar out of Micic in freestyle but we all know that's a different animal.

Also, the 50/50 odds are mine. The coaches may like whatever odds they perceive.

Heckuva thing to take a HS SR who's been training exclusively freestyle the past 10 months, and tell him he has 6 weeks to figure out bottom position against 23-yo college All-Americans.

And that's before questions about B10 auto qualifiers, B10 seeding, NCAA seeding, at large bids, random draws, etc.

BTW, pretty good chance Lee's signed National Letter of Intent states that he'll begin in 2017-18 school year. Not "2017-18 unless we need you sooner."

I believe the probability of PSU successfully defending the title is much greater than 50% with the current roster.

What, specifically, makes you believe CP and Willie have inside info about a significant roster change? Beyond simple speculation for entertainment purposes?

NOTHING, IMHO, CP & Willie are blowing smoke to get hits and have their names brought up all over the web. Nothing to see here at all.

An NLI is an agreement between two parties. One party says "you (recruit) promise to spend 1 year at our institution". The other party says "here's our financial aid package". The Financial Aid portion (in the NLI's I've seen) has the enrollment date.

Man, a bunch of you guys are just Mary's who are scared if we don't have a 30 point cushion over everybody. IIRC, 4 out of our last 5 NCs we were ranked somewhat similarly during the season . And we won 4 out of 5 fairly comfortably. And the one that wasn't comfortable, guess what, we won.

We will perform well in March. We will get more bonus than everyone in March. Barring injury, we are the favorites to win it - with our current lineup.

Guilty as charged, Your Honor. :D

Didn't say that. I said the national rankings do not have PSU number one. That's what I said.

Yes, that is literally what you said. It was also implied that you think the national rankings as they are today have some bearing on what you think will occur at Nationals in March.

That second trophy for margin of victory would look really nice ... wait, that trophy doesn't exist?

Just a note on this: Nick did graduate from Mater Dei in December. At the time he ranked No. 1 academically in his class. Smart kid.

That's not to say he's going to be called upon this year at Penn State, however. From what I understand, he technically could suit up this spring semester if asked, but at this point he's not being asked.

And to clarify, he's not currently enrolled. The plan last I heard was to enroll this summer unless he's directed otherwise

Nope, that is not literally what I said. Here, is LITERALLY what I said.

eh, national rankings differ. Most have PSU 2nd or 3rd...some 4th.
That is LITERALLY what I said. Deal with it.

Hey, uh, is this thing on? Okay, I'll turn my radio down. Scott from Strong Island here and know this is a Nick Lee thread but still hoping someone could weigh in on the Mark Hall redshirt thing. Not heard anything on it and it seems like a big deal. I'll hang up and listen, thanks.

Lol this might be my favorite reply on a message board in recent memory. Here's how it played out:

You can't even come to an agreement on what you said. I'm literally dying over here, figuratively.

You are arguing something that has no basis in fact. PSU is not ranked number one, that is the way it is right now. Not everyone believes PSU, as is currently constructed, is number one. In fact, not one single poll believes it.

I cant imagine (always being the unimaginative sort) that Lee would be called on to wrestle this year....BUT...if he enrolled for spring semester, could he start practicing with the team full-time?

It was my impression that he so far has only been allowed to practice with the team kids unofficially.
Oh well...since he is NOT enrolled, what difference does it make.

Most of the National Rankings don't consider "Bonus" in their "Tournament Ranking" formulas. If we're talking about Dual Team Rankings, those are useless and worthless to this discussion. In any event, I believe PSU has moved up most "Tournament Rankings" at this point.
