Is that the best ending to PSU game you have seen?

I am 36 so I am going with games that I can recollect in my lifetime, but that could be the best ending I have ever seen for a PSU win. I think the Chafie Fields td was almost as shocking as the blocked kick and that's about the closest ending I could compare. I never remember a blocked field goal returned for a td to win that late before.

Sorry, but no. Interception Giftopoulos! With 18 seconds to go and Miami on the 13 yard line going in on 4th down. That sealed the win. I screamed like a young teenage girl and cried like one too. Lol.

But tonight, I will certainly take this one too.

...defeating Miami in the Fiesta Bowl is still my favorite...
...next would be beating Georgia with Herschel Walker in the Sugar Bowl...
...but this ranks right up there with beating Pitt and Marino 48-14...
... how often does an unranked team beat the #2 team in the country?...

To me the best ending ever was the Stonehands catch to beat Nebraska. Glad to be in that crowd as a student. (But tonight was sweet. Congrats to all the students in the crowd tonight. Passing of the torch).

I am 45 and this is not even close to the 86 fiesta bowl. The 5th int of Vinny was the greatest single moment in PSU history

I've been a fan since 1976 when I started at PSU. I have to agree, this was the greatest moment of all (and not because I was there, but it didn't hurt), but because of what it meant that night. Garrity's catch in the 83 sugar bowl was special too. Tonight was great and may be looked at as the defining moment of the end of the sanction era, and I sure hope it is, but the way we played that night in Miami was really something special. Nine times out of ten the thugs beat us, but not that night. Not the way our def hit them and blew Vinny's mind.

In terms of pure excitement, I loved the 4OT win vs Mich in 2013.
Nebraska back in 1982 comes to mind as well.

Was at both and agree on both. Neb 82 in the darkness was magical. And it setup our first MNC, so all the more important.

This was a tremendous win and I loved it. I also loved winning the Fiesta Bowl in the waning seconds. There are many. But this game may be the most significant win we have had this century. I just think it carries that much weight in so many ways. We have stamped our mark and no longer have to wonder about ourselves. Nor does anyone else. We've finally proven we can win a big one.

Hali sack-fumble, Chafie Fields no flags, no flags (we still had to stop them I think on another possession though), others have been mentioned. I didn't see this one coming on a blocked FG. This one was nice. The way OSU was handling our pass rush I thought we were going to have big trouble tonight in 2nd H. Barrett has a great clock in his head. Outstanding QB. We missed him by a half-second all night.

As far as lightning strikes to win a game, I'd say your list is (last 35 years):

--this game
--the drive to send the Michigan game to OT
--Fields TD to beat Miami
--Bowman catch to beat Nebraska in 82
--Derrick Williams catch to beat Northwestern in 2005

how about the drive then in 1995 to beat Illinois and stay undefeated?

I thought about that one but as far as a lightning moment, the Michigan 4 OT one was better because it was more unlikely given time and distance to go plus a freshman QB and it had the ARob catch at the goal line. The 1994 drive was a methodical march down the field by a senior-laden group.
