James Franklin addressed the Penn State BOT this afternoon

most important part....

I think Saquon Barkley is a perfect example of what we're doing, he showed up on campus and all he did was embrace everything that we asked him to do. He has over a 3.0 GPA. He is humble, hard-working. He's appreciative. He is kind. He's also 5-11, 220 pounds and runs 4.3.

He's too classy to have to spend time with those people.
Funny, my first thought was, I can imagine those words coming from JVP 35 years ago. My second thought was, I hope he doesn't get infected with Ira Lubert disease.

HUGE James Franklin fan. Every breath he takes is aligned with what we want at Penn State. When the minority here and and shitheads at espn were scalding him, all he did was re-double his efforts and make a Big 10 champ. Talk about someone that defines the Penn St ethic. He is the real deal - great fball coach with the best interest of his students- athletes aligned.

If they believe that, they are delusional. If they believe that, then they hope that football success is so important that it will override everything else. Which of course, is what pissed them off in the first place.

Irony: the football program that you wanted to kill, is the only hope you have for surviving this debacle unscathed. And you are desperately praying that King Football returns to his throne.

It's not going to work, Ira. Nobody is going to move on, until you address the Paterno issue. You won't. You refuse. You are too scared and too little of a man to do this.

But you know what? Eventually your savior is going to say/do something that makes you face up to this issue, because he gets it. The guy who saved your ass gets it, and because of that, he is going to be the reason that your ass gets fried.

Kudos to Franklin. Who cares who the audience is. The message is the same. He gets it! It's not about him, about the BOT, about the media, about the wins, etc... it's about Penn State. It's about restoring and sustaining the glory. It's about the student athletes and their significant responsibility and impact they have on all things PSU, community, and the commonwealth. Do good, act good, say good, be good! It all translates to We Are! They represent all of us. It's Lion Pride.

They think JF is their savior. They are wrong. Because he gets it, he will be their worst enemy.

We are goddamned lucky to have him.
