I'm surprised there is no discussion on Palacio over Jo Jo and Gabe Dean getting beat. It appears that Dean may have had the flu but a loss none the less. The Smith loss is more of a mystery to me, didn't think Palacio was in that league.

"Flu" is understating what took Dean out for three weeks and what has it's teeth into Macri now. The only think to tak away from the Dean match is if he can't recover, that is what it looks like. But expect him to be back to normal when it matters.
As to Palacio, JoJo may not have experienced the low hips and funk that Palacio uses.....that nobody would teach. Palacio is looking better with every match and I would bet he's on the podium on March 19....it just won't be in the top 2 without a seeding gift and upset loss that helped Dake a few years back.
I heard Rob Koll say in a radio interview that Dean ended up in the hospital before the Lehigh dual with food poisoning. Actually, what he said was he was "Chipotle-ized." I'm not sure whether he was being serious that Chipotle was the source of the food poisoning or whether "Chipotle" is now a universal term for any food-borne agent of intestinal misery. In any event, if it was bad enough to land him in the ER, it's not surprising that he's not back to 100 percent just a few weeks later.
Dean may have been well less than 100% but Boyd showed me something. Dangerous with his length. I expect more from both Dean and Boyd.
Palacio got a couple of funky takedowns, but I'm not sure you can write the loss off to that. JoJo is solid if not particularly dynamic. He's beaten no one in the top 10 and only one guy 11 - 20 (Cottrell, WVa). Palacio may just be better.
