Jones and Flounders both pick Auburn

That's a mea culpa??? The first things Jones says is, "I predicted a 2-point loss, but nobody predicted what happened..." - really Douchey-Dave??? All PSU fans predicted what you predicted??? LMAO, what a self-absorbed, arrogant, duhO$U-loving douche. There were plenty of people saying that PSU would handle Auburn on the road because they simply have more talent and a better team (as last year proved) - this is especially true with Auburn less Bo Nix. BTW, did you see the monster game Bo had for Oregon??? Auburn less Bo Nix is a significantly less dangerous team than last year's Auburn team.

So you are saying auburn sucks, and we really don't know how good Penn State is lol. Kinda like Ohio State felt after beating Notre Dame.

In my view, the LB‘s and DL have shown themselves to be good , until proven otherwise. The individuals in those positions are largely extremely athletic, and appear “football smart” . There are clearly players who are young, and will make mistakes, but their learning curve should be short. The QB’s and RB’s appear very good and should get better quickly. The secondary has been intermittently excellent.
—-Injuries can throw a quick monkey wrench into things, but as they stand now, they have shown me that they deserve that assessment. They will only get better, IMO
I agree that the DL looks good. Mustipher seems to be getting back to his old self. Robinson & Isaac also look good.

I'm not as convinced about the LBs but Carter has been a pleasant surprise so far.

I would still like to see Izzard and the other kid. What's up with that? Is that a doghouse thing or what

We know who Penn State is. Penn State is the only team in the Big Ten to win 2 away games against teams in the top 30-35 so far. Hell, Penn State is the only team in the Big Ten who has PLAYED 2 away games.

I'm sure the coaches have been reminding Singleton that bouncing plays outside will not meet with the same success that he saw last week. Quality teams will string those plays out. Taking plays outside designed to go off tackle and catching the defense bunched inside is akin to a player hitting a home run and then swinging for the fences each and every time up.
If a RB can get 3-5 yards as designed consistently, he can catch the player with assigned outside leverage cheating.....then its a foot race.
SEC speed and Singleton still blew by them.

Only 3 games in as a true freshman, and Singleton looks like a major home run threat when he gets a little bit of room.

Singleton only has 30 carries so far this season (10 each game) - already has 334 rushing yards, 11.13 ypc and 4 TDs. Those are some pretty crazy good numbers for a trFR in his first 3 games.

The question for the coaches is whether they want a big increase in carries (and pass receptions also for that matter) for Singleton? Or continue to utilize as many as 4 running backs for significant action?

  • Kaytron Allen had 9 carries for 52 yds and 2 TDs vs Auburn; he looks like a really good inside runner, who can see the holes, make the cuts, and break tackles
  • Keyvone Lee is solid if not spectacular
  • Devyn Ford is particularly good as a receiver, and also had 7 carries vs Auburn
Thoughts?

**additional note -- fewer designed runs for Clifford lately and that makes sense IMO

USC had exactly the template I think we can achieve with Len Dale White and Reggie Bush. Thunder and Lightning. Katron is the thunder and Nicholas the Lightning

Every back has his purpose. Singleton and Allen are emerging as the starters, 1a and 1b. Singleton is a threat to take every carry 30+. Allen has excellent vision and will get the tough yards when holes aren't there.

Lee is kind of the change of pace back. He's similar to Allen without the vision, but seems to be more involved in the pass game thus far.

Ford seems to be the 3rd down and we have to pass RB. Nice to see him get some carrys yesterday.

The ability to hit the hole, cut, and break tackles is what separates Singleton and Allen vs Lee and Ford. Big kudos to their pass blocking right now. Nobody is a liability in that regard.

I think you ride with Singleton and Allen. The homerun threat keeps the D honest and helps keep Clifford upright. Lee and Ford just don't got 'IT"
