You knew in April your guys would get pounded, but now you believe they are going to prevail soundly? Like HawkeyeReport logic you leave me confused.
Not a big deal. The Hawks will win about as many big matches this coming year as they did last year or the year before or the year before that.
Thank goodness the Big10 will make Tommy B wrestle PSU this year.
It did look like Young improved a lot just over last season. Berge-Young is an intriguing match.
This meet is going to be full of great matchups:
Desanto/RBY, Lugo/Verk, Young/Berge, Bull/Cenzo, Kem/Hall and Warner/Beard(or Conel) are all going to be nail biters.
Iowa and PSU could wrestle each other 10 times and would probably have 10 different final scores. So many realistic possible outcomes to this meet.

Hope to see full line ups. Could see hawk back-ups for legit reasons like jet lag/confidence issues,it being the "plan" to sit, match is wrapped up and points weren't needed,illness related sickness,grip strength deficit,one match suspension for too many point deductions or getting shot in the leg or shooting someone in the leg etc. Could see PSU back-ups for BS reasons like cheating.
Maybe with seismic activity, altitude could become a factor. Or does that only impact the lowland pokes?Meet will be at CHA so jet lag is out as an excuse.
With Spencer in the line-up Iowa winning at least a single match is always a good probability. Iowa winning anything more, well who knows. DeSanto probably would have won and Marinelli wrestles Joseph tough, so on a perfect day Iowa maybe would have won 3 matches, on a realistic day they would have won two. One doesn't seem delusional.
However, this is the time of year when it is good to be a Hawk fan. All kinds of delusion filled fantasies seem possible and reality has been kicked miles down the road. Enjoy it now, you are still months away from the annual "just you guys wait till next year" Hawkeye moment.

Either Beard or Conel beats Warner, who showed last season that he will not live up to the HR hype. Though, other than Spencer, who can?
Now a father, yet not quite wise. What I know is this is the Hawk wrestling fan's time of the year to glorify in all the great possibilities. Realities are still far enough in the distance that the Hawk feathers are dark, shiny, healthy and glowing resulting from the summer time flood of fantasy adrenaline, endorphins and testosterone with the thoughts and dreams of multiple big-time victories and championships. Soon the realization that in reality what represents a big time achievement and championship in the land of the Hawk is.............

The matchup I really hope to see is Hall vs Kemdog. Kem is a shot-machine and that plays into Hall’s hands unless he is wrestling Valencia.
Bull vs. Cenzo is my next favorite. When I saw Cenzo repeatedly go for the trip against Alex I was perplexed. He had clearly been waiting for it so to make the same mistake twice was a shock. Then it happened all over again in the finals. I hope Cenzo utilizes some new attacks next year.
Glad Berge and RBY are getting some World team opportunities this year. That can only help. Both looked very strong in their classes this month.
But the lineups could be very different on both sides. Lee is kind of getting screwed if he does not take an Olympic redshirt - he is definitely THAT good. I was not surprised to see the news that Cassar got his extra two years. But I was surprised to see him say he is pretty sure he will wrestle for PSU this season even though he stated his aspiration is to make to 2020 Olympic team. If he is going to compete with Gwiz, he needs to get some serious International experience.
Beyond Olympic redshirts are regular red and gray shirts that PSU has expertly maneuvered in the past. I want to see PSU try to extend the streak but Cael knows best. It seems like Tom and Terry are lining up to make this year a run back into the top 2 spots. There is a lot of time to watch this unfold but these matchups are fun to think about.

@nitlion6 there is a higher probability of a hawk injury or flame out by an upper classmen than any Iowa W over psu in a dual/NCAA's. 10 years of current data on that.

As a Hawkeye fan I usually stay "delusional" through the first 3 rounds of NCAAs, then I say wait till next year.

They have been snake bitten by injuries (and gunshot wounds). This is the best looking Hawkeye team in quite a while though.
i am just glad we have 6-8 months of "who will win the dual" back and forth banter between now and when they actually wrestle. Hawks rule! Bull owns Cenzo! Trust in Cael! RBY is primed for revenge! KemDawg will roll.... KemDawg is a shell of his former self and wrestling up and Hall is a 100x champion of something! Shakur is a Top 5 guy w a killer cradle! Rasheed is overrated - was #2 and crapped the bed at NCAAs! With Nolf and Nickal gone PSU has taken a step back! After Spencer, Iowa has no champs and too many holes. PSU won't win at Carver - it will be nuts! How did that work out last time? and on and on and on it will go. Good times.
It's nice to be talking about Iowa as the primary threat, instead of the Perennial Recruiting National Champs.

I won't get into a prediction this early, but, I will say that I don't think the Iowa guys are delusional this year. They have a great team, as does PSU and it should be a great dual and a great battle at Rutgers and Minneapolis.
