Just got my Bucknell tickets. Pumped up!!

As are Penn and Pitt.
Of course, Penn is private, but from what I gather Pitt is public. Is that not right?

Self-edit: I just read about it. However, it also says that Penn State has the same status as Pitt. So, is Penn State and Pitt on the same type of status then? The website says yes. A unique system that PA seems to have. Hmmm...

You can throw Temple in there too.

Penn State is not officially a state school, like many of the others are, ie Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg. It is a state supported school. Someone more knowledgable than I can explain it better, I am sure.

One is in a city not large enough to support a professional basketball franchise.;)
I guess you missed this documentary.

...Pittsburgh is the City of Champions...
...Philadelphia is the City of "Wait 'til next year"... :(

One is in a city known for awesome sandwiches (Dinic’s Roast Pork, Cheesesteaks, Hoagies) and one puts fries and other crap into its “sandwiches”

Bull Run Tap House (on the corner of Market and 6th downtown) will have a Burger Bar starting at 5pm for people wanting to eat and have some beers before the match. They have a big draft selection (about 25 beers) and they've opened up the back room for dining (it's really nice back there). I highly recommend it.

I just asked this same question in the sticky thread but I'll ask here also. Is there a stream for Friday night at Bucknell?

Never mind. I just labored extensively and googled my own question. Flo is going to carry it. How lazy I've become.

Okay, I might as well start this now.

IMO, parking will be an absolute nightmare that night. School will be back in session after Thanksgiving break, so the students will have the majority of parking already filled up.

If you need/want to park near the gym, get there very, very early. There are small parking lots on either end of Sojka Pavilion, and the next closest lot is on the other side of University Drive towards Route 15 on Christie Mathewson Drive. After that, on-campus lots are fairly small, and already typically pretty full of students. I went to EIWAs the year before last, the gym was not nearly as full as it will be for PSU, and I parked across campus.

Another good option would be to park downtown, where there will presumablly be large crowds AFTER the match. Park as close as you can to Market and Fifth Street, and walk about 0.5 miles to the Pavilion. That way, when you leave the match, and go to the bar, you'll be close to your car when you leave.

Speaking of bars, the options are limited, but not bad.

  • Bull Run Tap House, corner of Market and 5th: Typical small college town bar with a good beer selection and typical small college town bar food.
  • Town Tavern, another corner of Market and 5th: Similar to Bull Run, but little more of a restaurant and homier (Norm!) feel. Personally, I don't like the food as much here and I think their beer selection is a little smaller.
  • Lewisburg Hotel, corner of Market and Third: A step up from the first two, more of the college prof and parent hangout, rather than the college kid hangout. GREAT bar food, similar beer selection.
  • Smiling Chameleon, 235 Market Street: Not sure how to describe this one. Maybe eclectic, or maybe that's just my impression from the couple of times I've been there. Lots of taps from around the country, and a unique menu.
  • Civil War Cider Company, 606 Market, near Bull Run and Town Tavern. Ciders, whiskeys, moonshine and beer. Really cool experience if you've never been. If it's a cool, dry night, they might have a bonfire out back, where you can sip your cider and discuss the match.
  • Susquehanna Smokehouse: 1115 State Route 405, Milton, PA. Have to mention this, since friends own it and it has FANTASTIC smoked food. How it has a Milton address, I'll never know. It's south of Route 45, on the other side of the river from Lewisburg. Smoked chicken salad, smoked chicken cheesesteak, smoked mac 'n cheese. Need I say more? Oh, yeah, Friday's are usually fried haddock special nights. Get the smoked mac 'n cheese with it. Smoked mac 'n cheese. Tell Craig or Vicki that Crystal sent you. They'll know who you mean.
Other Lewisburgers or frequenters of bars in Lewisburg, please tack your favorites on to this list, as I know it's not complete.
I thought the only bar in Lewisburg was the Town Tavern?!
