I brought it up sometime in August in response to a LionJim post. Then I backed off but kept an eye on him. He started loosening up, posting more frequently, being cocky, and recently using an absolute - "I can now confirm yada yada yada." That convinced me.
I am, however, happy to give you full credit for your call. They try to hide but style betrays them eventually. FACT!
Try doing some research by checking all my posts. We talk about lazy media, which they are, but if you took any time to look at all my posts, it is pretty obvious. But if name calling is your thing, have it.
Poor fella just can't help himself. Gotta give him credit for trying to change his style at least for a little bit, but like all his other names over the years he'll expose himself sooner or later.

I wouldn't have had the interest or taken the time but several good posters weighed in. So I wanted to know what's up.
And the loss in the Rose Bowl, as the game played out and with the background of the several years before it, really left me feeling like it was more a loss of the last 5 minutes of that game. There was so much of that experience to feel great about. In fact, I don't think I've ever felt as good about after a loss.
So in 2016 after an 11-2 regular season and a rose bowl loss to USC (and a 3-0 start to 2017)... PSU is now a "regular" top 10 program?

The funny thing is, I got torn up because I don't get why anyone cares about Pitt anymore. The game is over and they are irrelevant. True fans know, just like the team and coaches know, the next bog step is Iowa.
They're the other main state school, we recruit against them, we play them for two more years, their looking bad helps us in future recruiting, etc etc etc.
Yea, except PSU is on a different level. Our recruiting hasn't really "competed" against Pitt for a while. I saw the numbers posted a while back, but head-to-head we crush them.
I guess I don't get all the posts about what they are talking about. Who cares? They are 1-2 and on their way to a looooong season.
They don't get a lot away from PSU, but they do get some. The goal is to get that to the point where they don't get any that PSU wants....that's why pointing out their weaknesses is a good thing.

You might be right on with this statement. It was a pretty sad state of affairs this past weekend. I see VaTech,Miami,UNC as clear loses. NC.State as a toss up/leaning towards the NC.State side. UVA is much improved as is Duke. Cuse is just bad but then again last years shootout

The early and Mid 90's really killed us. Hackett and Majors two, along with the administration basically giving up on football didn't help. I have been a long time Pitt man, as well as a former player. I am just really starting to lose hope on the program. Saturday was bad

Penn State never left. Sure, they weren't in the top ten for several years before last season, but given the horrific, unjust circumstances they were put through (that no other ever has), they did much more than merely survive. From 2012 to 2015, Penn State had a better record than a number of reputable programs. Penn State won a bowl game and played competitively in another bowl (against Georgia). Few, if any, programs could have done as well under the circumstances. Some likely would have shut down. All the while, recruiting improved year on year. All this with three coaching changes post-Joe (counting Bradley as one; I could also count LJ and make it four).
Going back a few more years, Penn State and Wisconsin are the only b1g schools with consecutive winning seasons since 2005. When you consider the sanctions that were intended to destroy the program, the fact that Joe was slowing down in his last 10 or so years, and that Penn State is still one of the few power programs to openly focus on academics and rules compliance, it's a wonder that they have been able to have such success.
Once and for all, everyone just stop with the "we are back" mantra. It's insulting.

Elite isn't a one year trend (2008)....seriously....elite programs that are regularly in in the top 10.....thinking Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Clemson recently over the past few years.
I honestly feel PSU is BACK and turning into one of those types of programs. If you feel PSU has been to that regular level of relevance over the past 15 or so years, well then you don't really know college football. And before you go claiming I am insulting PSU, I am not. I truly believe they are here to stay for a while at this elite level.
I don't find it insulting because Penn State has been underperformed since we joined the Big 10. We have what, 4 conference titles in 25 years? That is not acceptable at Penn State nor is 8-4 or 7-5. A school with the football budget, facilities, alumni / fan base that we have should aspire to much more than that. We have really only had one great team since joining the conference (1994). 2005 was close but as much fun as that was, if we are honest with ourselves we were not on the level of USC or Texas that year. Franklin has brought something to the program that we have needed for almost two decades and it is so much fun to see it all play out in front of us. Enjoy the ride fellas.
