So many posters turning on the coaching staff and players after a great game. PSU is now 7-1 with a loss in a close game where the offense and defense couldn't close against the best defense and offense and team PSU has played this year and an away game at that. Just admit it. OSU was better today. PSU needs to bounce back next week and we should be rooting for them to do so.

Not sure I'd call it "turning on the coaches and players" to challenge some of the decisions that were made. Go into the 4th quarter up by 15, you need to win that game. Doubt any regular here is giving up but this one stings and I think it's ok to commiserate with fellow fans.

We've won 16 of our last 18, but apparently that's not good enough. I know posters will say it's the way we lost, but nobody is happy with the way they lose in any game.

Gotta win........................................

It's not good enough when you should have won and don't learn from mistakes. 1st downs win football games not 40 second play clocks just like base hits win baseball games not taking pitches. It has happened every year - sometimes multiple times. They didn't learn from the Rose Bowl and never will.

Ridiculous. No one is turning on the staff. It's completely fair to question the staff when they blow an 18 point lead twice

And yes. I'll say it again. I don't love JoMoe

He's done good things but I believe he's too married to his system and puckers up in big spots.

I think long term we can be better with him moving on , brining in someone who is keeping majority of his schemes but also open to adapting it more. Right now it doesn't seem like he's willing to do that

Unless you are a fan of Alabama, or maybe a few others like OSU, you get maybe once chance in 20 years to share the joy of a National Championship. This could have been that year for us. The opportunity is now gone. People pay large sums of money to attend games. They expect more than a total collapse in the 4th quarter to lose a game that was in our grasp.

With the way recruiting is going it actually seems like 2019 is our best chance at a national championship

They did the exact same thing vs.USC but injuries and tired bodies can cause that. Like 16 completions in a row to uncovered receivers make any qb look good

I agree. Franklin is closing in on Urban with regards to recruiting.

Also, I thought the idea was the continue the Grand Experiment. If that means losing a game now and again, so be it.

Under Franklin, players have for the most part stayed out of trouble, done well in school, and excelled in community service.

It is amazing how well the team has done the past two years with all the crap they have had to overcome. I'm not about about to criticize them over one game.

Maybe we should just adopt the OSU way and have players run around campus looking for rocks.

16 of the last 18 is winning...no one wins all their games.

It was a big game- the most crucial of the year. They had an 18 point lead ....on the road..... and blew it. They will (and should) get criticized for that.

Everyone knows how 'Clemsoning' became a common phrase over the years. Well, the PSU coaching staff is an inch away from making "Rose Bowling" a verb for PSU going into a shell and blowing big leads late. 2nd time they've done it in 8 games.

They've also come back from big deficits and won.

This chicken little nonsense gets on my nerves. Go back through and look at the threads praising jo-mo after smoking Michigan. A week later and he's terrible. People need to understand the difference between realistic and passionate. A 1 point loss at the shoe to a superior (talent wise) team is nothing to sneeze at. Yes, sucks to lose a big lead, but talented teams at home will do that. ESPECIALLY after a bye week to prepare.

Listen, look at where this team is right now. Now think about where you thought this team would be 3 years ago. This team still has a very bright future. Don't be like other teams fans that we've beat. Suck it up, take our medicine and move on. Season isn't over. Don't be mad at the kids. Don't be mad at the coaches. Be mad at the scheduling gods.

We were not going to win the NC, even if we won this game. OSU overwhelmed us with superior talent in spite of almost trying to give us the game. We are climbing the ladder.
Think 2019 and have faith.

You never know for sure unless you get there and lose. Our chances of beating Alabama are slim, but if we don't play them they are none. 2019 may be our year, or it could be we could have some key injuries and lose 3 games.

Most of the fans spewing hate on coaches never accomplished more in life than self sexual gratification, total losers with no life accomplishments

Those who make decisions must be accountable for those decisions. The play calling at the end of the game was terrible and those decisions were made by whom? The players did what they were asked to do but they were not put in a position to win the game at the end. They were put in a position to try and survive and anybody watching the game could see that wasn't going to work.

this isn't turning, it's being realistic. this is the same staff that had an almost perfect game plan last week. what the hell happened this week? last week we were unpredictable, inventive, hard to defend. this we we were predictable, boringly redundant and unwilling to change. o$u played a good game. our coaching made them look great.

So I guess the answer is to fire them all. Who would you hire? After all, Franklin's win-loss record isn't that good, he obviously can't recruit, and his players have quit on him.

This isn't what anyone is saying. People are unhappy that up 18 points, we couldn't find a way to either a) keep a lead, or b) keep scoring. If your answer is that there is nothing the coaches can do because of the talent gap, well, that's where people disagree.

Namaste.

that's a moronic response. you won't find a bigger jf supporter than me. that doesn't keep me from pointing out the obvious. this is a work in progress, and tonight proved we aren't there yet; from either a player or coaching standpoint.

I agree with this. If we won this game I was afraid they would slip up at MSU, or vs. Nebraska, or even at Maryland. And even if we got through those then we'd have had the B1G title game against Wisconsin. After the Iowa game it was clear this team was not going to be undefeated. They just don't have what it takes to go unbeaten. The problem is the running game. We have Barry Sanders 2 and he gets stuffed all the time.

However, this is a very good team. Since 1980, I would put only the two national title teams and 1994 ahead of this one.

But we are getting closer!:)

So you know Midnighter and Victor E. Bell?

LOL. Nice!

Ha. I'm the biggest supporter, but he sucks.

You're the #2 ranked team in country with the #1 scoring defense, you score 38 points, have the opponent commit a zillion penalties and turn the ball over a couple of times and you fail to win. A lot of blame to go around in this one.

Both the play calling and player execution were terrible at times and especially late in the 4th quarter. Lack of a pass rush made Barrett look like the next coming of Tom Brady. Sixteen completions in a row down the stretch. Cudos to him. And where in the hell were the DBs and safeties when they weren't committing PI/holding? Barkley was bottled up almost every time he was handed the ball. So why would you continue to hand it to him in the 4th quarter and go backward? Up 11 points with 6 minutes to go and Franklin turned it over to the defense to win the game and they disappointed big time. It was Rose Bowl deja-vu.

So players don't have to block or catch the ball? They don't have to make the right read or the right cut? It's the coaches that control them like a video game? I've played sports my whole life and as long as the coach put the right players on the field, I never lost a game because of a coach. My teams lost because we didn't play well enough to win.

Tell that to Atlanta Falcon fans who had their best personnel on the field, a virtual insurmountable lead, and then lost because the coaches made stupid decisions at the end.
