Well, HWT is the closest thing we have to a gap in the lineup down the road.
There are a lot of top recruits gone to the competition over the past 2 years, heavy weight will remain pretty loaded with a highly competitive top 4 or more for a while.
I am not trying to be a killjoy, but I will have to 'wait and see', re: growing the larger, but lower ranked Marisola brother into a AA level heavy. Cassar says yes sir!!! Hopke is at a different level, and the timing is pretty optimal. I have a feeling this is going to be Kerk's last year.

Success rate of a typical large class is no more than 40%. The last large class recruited by Cael in 2018 had 2 guys win champs out of 8 ranked guys in the class. Everyone else has transferred out with modest results (Beard AA). Before then the 2014 class may have been the greatest ever with 5 ranked wrestlers and Cassar. 4 AA's and three champs came from that class.
I thought Facundo was our 165 also, along with Beard at 197, times are a changin boyz
If Hopke ends up anywhere other than Minnesota, I'll eat my own hat. I just don't see him not going there.
NIL combined with the portal has fundamentally altered the landscape and our program for sure, at least for the time being.
I think we will see several of our very talented kids hit the portal with a year maybe two under their belts, once they know that starting is unlikely.
It's going to be good for us and good for them. Great training partners they are while here, but also providing the ability to command attractive offers elsewhere, where they can succeed.
Noone will essentially get trapped at PSU, while at the same time the cream that rises to the top will stay. I don't see another Suriano scenario where we lose a title contender.

For as much talent that lives close to WVU, WVU should be a regular in the Top 15 and win a team trophy occasionally.
