As an Eagles fan I loved the Wade Phillips era of the Cowboys. I knew he wasn’t good enough and as long as he was the coach the Eagles would be fine. When he was fired, I worried Jerry Jones would use his resources to find a real coach. Instead he got Jason Garrett. Same deal. As long as Jason Garrett is the coach the Cowboys won’t win. Same with Brands. He might be able to use the Iowa legacy and resources to come close, but he is not good enough to bring Iowa back to the top. I will be more worried when they fire Brands and hire a energetic, creative, young talent ... dare I say someone like DT. Until that point it is good for PSU ... they will wallow around the top 7, never a real threat like tOSU or OSU. Brands = not good enough

I use the same argument when it comes to politics: let the obnoxious, annoying ones talk all that they want, they just continue to dig their own graves, in most cases.

DT isn't an upgrade to Brands. DT can't drop olympic gold on a kid's coffee table and say "I can get you one of these" the way Brands, Smith, and Cael can. Granted that can only get you so far (Kevin Jackson), but DT isn't an upgrade at this stage in his career. Once he medals at the world level? Yes. (and I do think he will).

I am a big David Taylor fan... Last year I showed our freshman new wrestlers him and Nolf and said "see how these guys don't care and just have fun? Do that. Don't wrestle nervous".

Counterpoints would be: DT has hosted significant recruits to PSU, such as Bo Nickal; and many of the top coaches also do not have Olympic gold -- Ryan, Pop, Dresser, Koll, Santoro, Brian Smith, Manning, Flynn, etc.

IMO the bIggest supporting point: DT also has zero experience with college coaching or admin (especially roster and scholarship mgmt). I'm sure he's a quick learner, but would still benefit from some experience.

Someday might be an upgrade, but that day is not today.

I think DT is right where he needs to be. Hes training himself and hes training the next big things in central PA.

If we needed a coaching spot to keep him nearby it would be tough.

Same with Nico, in SC making $$ and still helping the program out.

Will be interesting to see where life takes zain, nolf and nickal, with all 3 having 2020 dreams.

i don’t know if he would be or not. My point is that somebody of that type would make me more nervous in the next 3-5 years in rebuilding and challenging PSU compared to more of the same from TnT. Give me more of the same, not a threat today and history says won’t be tomorrow.

What the what the hell is this post about? We don't worry about Iowa or anyone else. We take care of ourselves, and that takes care of business.

Iowa needs Casey Cunningham. He is the only one that could bring the blueprint and that ain’t happening!
